In order to show the act of the father, it is said, "Father," and so on. For whom? That is, for sentient beings. Who gives birth? That is, the father, and the mother who gives birth, and the gods such as the moon and water gods, and the sages such as the destroyer of dwellings, Gautama, and Brahma, who are also called Veda holders. Such is this altruistic mind, such as the wisdom of the Bodhisattva, which has just been spoken of, combined for the benefit, has appeared, let alone appear, will the appearance also change? It means that the appearance will also change, but there is no one else other than the Bodhisattva. Again, why is that so? It is said, "Those sentient beings," and so on, those are the mother, and so on, also for their own benefit, that is, to be in charge of themselves. Thinking in the mind to accomplish immeasurable merits, just as wanting to be free from all suffering. Never dreamed of before, that is, never happened before. Let alone arising from the awakened state of mind preceding, even in a dream. If someone asks, will one in a hundred be born for the sake of others? The answer is, how can one be born for the sake of others? It is said in the sutra that in the world, oneself and so on are very poor, and if even oneself does not have it, how can one take care of others? Or, how can one appear in a dream for the sake of others? Combine it in this way. Having thus shown the uncommonness of the Bodhisattva, in order to conclude, it is said, "Sentient being jewel," and so on, like this, because of doing remarkable deeds, it is difficult to obtain, the sentient being itself is the characteristic of a jewel. Never before, that is, never happened before. This, refers to this one who has the merits shown in this way. To the question, "How wonderfully born?" How refers to wonderful. Again, why is it said like this? Because it is said, "Others," and so on, that great being who generates the mind for the sake of others, according to the order shown, for other sentient beings, even for their own benefit, will not arise. Here, other merits of generating the mind of Bodhi are also to be spoken of, as it is said in the Noble Arrayed Tree Sutra, the Bhagavan Noble Maitreya spoke with Noble Sudhana as the main one, that was also collected by the author of the treatise himself from all the trainings.

Therefore, since this has been shown in great detail, it should be understood as such. Furthermore, through the door of showing the benefits of the mind of enlightenment, it is said that the bodhisattva's immeasurable merit is itself called "joy for all beings," and so on. The cause of all the joy of all sentient beings, and the cause of all the perfections of gods and so on, is the precious mind. How can the immeasurable merit of the mind of enlightenment be measured? And how can it be counted? Because this is extremely vast, it cannot be measured. This is from the Sutra Requested by the Noble Yeshe Nyingpo: "If the merit of the mind of enlightenment had form, it would fill all of space, and would still exceed it." Thus it is said. Although it has been shown generally, even so, it should be regarded as the mind of entering, because that is the context. Furthermore, in terms of its distinction, the so-called "sentient being" transforms the suffering of sentient beings into medicine, and is able to dispel all the suffering arising from the body and mind of all living beings, and is therefore the nature of a great medicine that destroys all diseases. Therefore, this shows that the mind of enlightenment is the cause of higher rebirth and definite goodness. Therefore, it is shown that it is reasonable that the merit of this mind is immeasurable. Furthermore, to dispel the doubt of how this is reasonable, "benefit" and so on are spoken. For the sake of protecting all beings, may I become a Buddha! Thus, the merit that arises from the mind of enlightenment, which wishes with an extraordinary intention and is free from merely fulfilling desires, is superior to offering to the Buddhas. This means that it is the cause of the arising of a mass of merit, as it says in the scriptures. Thus, the great nature of the first mind of enlightenment is shown. This is also said in that same sutra: "If someone were to fill Buddha-fields as numerous as the sands of the Ganges with the seven precious jewels, and offer them to the protector of the world, it would be surpassed by someone who joins their palms and generates the mind of enlightenment. This limitless offering is especially superior."
