Sa. It has been said, "If giving," and so on. Regarding this object, having obtained it, if one also comes to cherish enjoyment, then should one give this or should one use it? One ascertains through discrimination. If one gives, then what should one use? Because it has been completely possessed by others in every way. Thus, it is said that the conduct of those who wish to engage by turning their backs on others for the sake of their own benefit, that is, for the sake of accomplishing their own happiness, is because stinginess is predominant. The opposite of this is said, "If," that is, or if one uses, then what should one give? This is said in relation to the time when it occurs. Therefore, like this, those who engage without regard for their own benefit, for the sake of accomplishing the happiness of others, are the king of the gods, that is, the lord of the gods. Having thus spoken of benefiting and not benefiting others, in order to show how the faults and virtues of harm and benefit to oneself and others can exist, it is said, "For oneself," and so on. Because one thinks of one's own happiness, by harming others through the faults of body and speech, one will experience suffering in the lower realms such as hell. The opposite will result in the perfections of worldly and transworldly existence. In order to show what is virtue and fault from wanting to benefit and harm oneself and others even with just thoughts, it is said, "Oneself," and so on. Arrogance is when one is manifestly arrogant that one is superior to others by means of youth, beauty, wealth, and so on. Those who consider themselves superior, if they transfer that to others, that is, transfer it to the other party, then the previous action will be reversed. Oneself and others Even in mere words, it is not the cause of happiness. In order to show this, it is said, "For one's own benefit," and so on. The word "etc." refers to one's own unpleasant things, etc., and the lord himself, etc. Here too, the word "etc." refers to lineage, etc., and beauty, etc. Now, in order to show the meaning of what has been said in summary, it is said, "The world," and so on. Even if one wants to be happy oneself, all these accomplishments are doing what should not be done.

One becomes attached to oneself. Therefore, due to the obscuration of that karma, suffering arises in the next world from unwanted actions. Happiness means being associated with happiness. And "wishing others happiness" is for the sake of benefiting others and striving for union with happiness. Now, in order to briefly demonstrate the meaning of the teachings through examples, it is said, "Many," and so on. Why explain in detail? Because by briefly clarifying this example, after understanding it, one should strive to exchange oneself with others. Just like this, ordinary beings are immersed in their own needs, while the capable ones, that is, the Buddhas, the Bhagavad-arhats, are subject to others for the sake of others. Observe this difference in particular and keep it in mind. Just as the example is shown in the scriptures, it should be understood that for those who reverse their karma, even with a mind, why would they become disinterested? Even so, if pursuing the meaning of the Buddha, if this path is the only one, then how can this be a path of happiness for those who only desire the happiness of samsara? "My happiness" and so on are said, the Buddha himself is to accomplish Bodhi, to perfect is to take the path of exchanging oneself with others, because this is the meaning of a supreme being. It cannot be accomplished without exchanging oneself with others. Even in samsara, how can the characteristics of the perfect happiness of gods and humans exist? That is impossible. Why not? Because it is said, "My happiness," if one has not definitely exchanged one's own happiness with the suffering of others, has not transformed one's own happiness into that of others, and transformed the suffering of others into one's own, that is its meaning. If given, then what to use? It is said, and so on. Furthermore, in order to show that happiness in this life also only arises when benefiting others, it is said, "The next world," and so on, that is, in the next world, one will not be happy without benefiting others, let this be put aside for the time being, just like that for the time being.
