It became like that. Therefore, when the king's son, ministers, attendants, and many other beings were subdued by various means and placed on the correct path, the king became angry as if seeing it on the king's road. With a mind aroused by jealousy, he thought, "This person has made everyone happy." To kill him, he ordered his own sons. Those sons also understood that they were being ordered to kill him, so they ordered the executioner named "Gahajyeda" (Happy Maker). He also acted according to the king's command, gradually cutting off his hands, feet, and so on, and his eyes also became dry and blind, taking his life. Then, that monk saw many wonderful and amazing things from the lifeless body on the king's road. The king lamented, "This monk is truly a Bodhisattva!" He was completely consumed by grief, uttering cries of sorrow in various ways. Thus, the events of the flower-moon beauty are briefly narrated here. For a more detailed account, refer to the description in the Samadhiraja Sutra. To illustrate that those compassionate ones who suffer because of the suffering of others cannot be harmed even by great suffering, it is said, "Like that, the lineage is," and so on. Like that, it is equality between self and others. Cultivating the lineage is entering through the spontaneous accomplishment of the mind's lineage. Joyfully pacifying and sharing the suffering of others, those who possess the cause of happiness are called that. What does it mean that my happiness is also suffering because of the suffering of others? Those who enter the Avici hell are those who regard suffering itself as happiness in order to liberate others from suffering. As it is said here, "Like a swan in a lotus pond." Even the suffering of Avici hell is happiness, because they are doing it for the sake of others' suffering. What else can be afflicted by the cause of suffering? Furthermore, their happiness is also unique, arising from the suffering of others. Therefore, to illustrate this, it is said, "When beings are liberated."

It is to liberate sentient beings from the bonds of suffering. The reason for saying "that is" is that those are accomplished through their own experience, so it is impossible to express it as "only this." Precisely because of this, it is an ocean of joy, an ocean of satisfaction, and it will arise in the minds of those who possess compassion. The perfection of that ocean of joy is attained by turning away from other pleasures, and it is the summary of "abandoning all pleasures." If it is said, how can that be the ultimate of happiness? Because it is the happiness of liberation by completely pacifying the torment of afflictions, it is extremely superior. As it is said in the scriptures, "tasteless liberation" and so on, even liberation, in relation to it, appears to be tasteless. The meaning is this: benefiting others and accomplishing happiness, precisely because they are infused with the most excellent flavors, that is why there is such attachment to it. For those who possess compassion, what is needed is that kind of happiness, not liberation. If one makes a special effort in practice, even if liberation is attained, one will not intentionally seek to benefit others. As it is said in the scriptures: He who manifests the nature of all beings, the Tathagata is merely incidental, subordinate to your qualities, a slight expression of words, pleasing and delightful. Therefore, because there is no haste for liberation, therefore, because of this reason, even if one does something for the benefit of others, one will not be arrogant or conceited because of it. There is nothing to be surprised about, because the wonderful wisdom that arises from experiencing asceticism will not arise in them, and they will not think, "I have done a sacred deed, the ripening result of this deed will appear in the next life," and so on, and they will not generate desire for the ripening result. It is said in the scriptures that the sole reason for this is delight in benefiting others, because for other benefits, uniquely, there is no need to rely on other needs, so there is special joy, because there is no satisfaction in practicing it, it is for this reason. This explains the situation of the result of equality between self and others.
