Then, what displeasure is there in being criticized? Since the inclinations of sentient beings are diverse, Even the Buddhas cannot please them, What need is there to mention those as wicked as I? Therefore, abandon thoughts of the world, Criticize sentient beings who have no gain, Speak unpleasant words to those who have gain. How can joy arise from those Whose nature is difficult to get along with? Since children only care for themselves, Joy does not arise without benefit, Therefore, the Tathagatas say That no children are friends. In the forest, deer and birds, And trees do not speak unpleasant words. When will I dwell together With those who are happy to be with? In a cave or on top of a temple, Or dwelling under a tree, When will I not look back And be without attachment? Without holding land as my own, In naturally vast places, Acting freely and without attachment, When will I dwell? Holding only a begging bowl and other necessities, And wearing clothes that no one needs, Even without hiding this body, When will I dwell without fear? Going to the charnel ground, My body and the bones of others, In the nature of decay, When will I equalize them? Even this body of mine, Whose odor causes even jackals To not approach, Will come to be like that. Even though this body came alone, The flesh and bones born together Will break apart and separate, What need is there to mention other loved ones? At birth, one is born alone, At death, one dies alone, Since one does not take the suffering of others, What use are obstructive friends? Those who enter the paths, Just as one holds onto a dwelling, Likewise, those who enter the ocean of existence Also hold onto a place of birth. Since the world is burning everywhere, As long as four men Do not lift one from it, Go to the forest. Without friends and without enemies, This body dwells alone in a secluded place, Considering it as if already dead, There is no sorrow even in death. Since those who dwell near me Do not cause sorrow or harm, Therefore, no one can distract me From remembering the Buddha and so on. Therefore, in the most delightful Forests

In stillness and bliss, all distractions cease, Letting oneself dwell alone. Abandoning all other thoughts, with a single mind focused on oneself, Striving diligently to keep the mind equanimous and subdued. In this world and the next, desires give rise to clusters of suffering, Here there is killing, binding, and cutting, there there are hells and so on. First with messengers and maids, praying for abundant gain, For the sake of those sins or non-sins, without hesitation, Even entering into fears, and exhausting resources, Those by whom one gains great joy, are truly just skeletons. Not autonomous nor self, yet extremely greedy and attached, Why not go to peace? Those whom one initially strives to lift up, though pulled, look down with shame, Whether seen or unseen before, yet their faces are covered with clothes. You see that face of affliction, as it is now manifest, Seeing the vultures have already pecked, why do you now approach? When others look with their eyes, with what do you guard well, As they eat them, why do you not protect, miserly one? Seeing this heap of flesh, vultures and other eaters, Offer flowers, sandalwood ornaments, to the food of others. Seeing it as a heap of bones, though motionless, you are terrified, Like a zombie, if someone shakes it, why not fear? To what is covered, one is attached, if not covered, why not desire? If there is no need for it, why embrace the covered one? When food alone, saliva and drool arise, Not liking that saliva, why do you like drool? Touching cotton is soft, not liking to lie on a pillow, Saying it does not leak impurities, the lustful are foolish in impurity. The lustful, wicked, and foolish, touching cotton is soft, Saying it cannot be a bed, they generate anger towards it. If there is no attachment to impurity, to bones connected by tendons, Covered with mud of flesh, otherwise why do you embrace it in your lap? You yourself, with much impurity, constantly use that very self.
