Therefore. Untamed mind, why are you angry? If I have the power of observation, If I have merit, I will not fall into hell. If I can protect myself, What can those people do to me? If I retaliate with harm, Then I will not be protecting them, My conduct will also decline, And my asceticism will be destroyed. The mind is not sentient and has no body, So no one can destroy it anywhere. But because of attachment to the body, Only this body suffers harm. Contemptuous words and harsh words, And all unpleasant words, If they cannot harm my body, Why is your mind so angry? Others do not like me, Therefore, in this life or another life, They do not eat me, why do I, Not abandon this dislike? Because it creates obstacles to gain, If this is what I do not want, I will abandon my gains now, And evil will become more firmly established. I would rather die today than, Live long in a wrong way. Even if I live long, it will only be, The suffering of death. Having experienced happiness for a hundred years in a dream, What is the person like when he wakes up, Another person experiences happiness for a moment, What is the person like when he wakes up. When they wake up, in both of them, That happiness does not return, Both long life and short life, Are the same at the time of death. Having obtained many gains, Having enjoyed happiness for a long time,

Seeing this, extinguish anger. Sentient beings have consciousness, both conscious and unconscious cause harm, why punish the conscious? Therefore, harm should be endured. Some act evilly out of ignorance, some become angry out of ignorance, who can avoid fault in them? Who is the one with fault, possessing fault? Why did they do that which harms others in the past? Since everything depends on karma, why should I be angry at this one? Having seen this and pondered, may all mutually generate loving-kindness. In this way, I shall diligently cultivate virtue. For example, when a house has been burned by fire, it spreads to another house and burns it, when it spreads to grass and other things, it should be pulled out and discarded. Likewise, when attachment arises in the mind, and the fire of anger spreads, fearing that it will burn virtues, it should be discarded immediately. If a person to be killed has their hand cut off, wouldn't it be good if they could escape? If one is freed from hell by the suffering of a person, what could be better? If I cannot endure even this slight present suffering, then why not extinguish the anger that is the cause of the suffering of hell? Even though I have experienced burning and the like in hell thousands of times for the sake of desire, I have not done anything for my own or others' benefit. This is not such a great harm, but it can accomplish great meaning. For the sake of removing the harm of sentient beings, one should take joy in all sufferings. If others praise those with qualities and one gains joy and happiness, your mind should also praise their qualities, why not rejoice in this? This happiness of your joy, the source of happiness is without fault, those with qualities all allow it, and it is also the best of gathering others. Furthermore, if happiness arises in this way, if you do not desire this happiness, because you abandon wages, offerings, etc., both seen and unseen will decline. At the time of praising one's own qualities, one also desires others to gain happiness, but at the time of praising the qualities of others, one does not desire to gain happiness oneself. Since all sentient beings desire happiness, having generated the mind of enlightenment, when sentient beings themselves find happiness, why be angry at that? If sentient beings desire to become fully enlightened, worshiped by the three realms, approach

Having seen just a little bit of bad, why do you grieve for it? What is it that you heal? That which you heal is what you yourself should give. If a relative finds sustenance, do you not rejoice but become angry again? Since you do not wish him to go anywhere, how can you wish him to attain enlightenment? For those who are angry at the wealth of others, where is the mind of enlightenment? If he obtains it from that, staying in the house of the benefactor, If you do not have all of that, what is the use of giving or not giving? Why abandon merit and faith, and your own qualities? Tell me, who does not cling to what has been obtained, who does not become angry? You yourself have committed sins, not only without regret, but you also want to compete with others who have done meritorious deeds? Chapter Two Even if an enemy is not happy, what is there for you to rejoice in? Merely your wish will not become a cause of harm to him. Even if suffering is accomplished by your wish, what is there for you to rejoice in? If it becomes contentment, what other ruin is there besides that? This hook set by the fisherman of afflictions is an unbearable pain. It seizes the mind, even in the hellish cauldron, the hellish guards torment me with it. The offerings of praise and fame will not become merit, nor will they change much. It will not become my strength, nor will it become without disease, nor will the body become comfortable. If I understand my own benefit, what benefit is there in that? If one only wants inner happiness, then one must also rely on the presence or absence of ornaments and the like. Having lost wealth for the sake of fame, and even killing oneself, then what is the use of words? Who is pleased by the flesh? If a sandcastle collapses, what will the children do? Likewise, if praise and fame disappear, one's own mind is like a child. For a while, sound has no mind, so it is impossible for me to have a mind of being praised. I am known as someone who is liked by others, that is considered a cause of happiness. Whether it is others or myself, what benefit is there to me in others' happiness? Happiness and bliss belong to others, I cannot obtain a share from it. If others' happiness makes me happy, then everyone should do that, why Others are happy, but I am not happy? Therefore, I am praised, my own happiness
