It is said, "Becoming a measure," and so on. Since it is both a measure and a person, it is "a person who has become a measure," such as the venerable Nāgārjuna and others. These are the treatises made by them, such as the Root Wisdom of the Middle Way. What is it like? It is explaining the scriptures without distortion. Seeing that is hearing through ear consciousness, that is, taking hearing as the meaning of seeing. Determining the intention of the scriptures is determining the intention of the scriptures through that means. The meaning of this is: it is difficult for people like me to determine the intention of the scriptures, but since the teacher Nāgārjuna directly saw reality, the intention of the scriptures is understood through the treatises he composed. This is the concluding remark. "Dharma" refers to the aggregates and so on. "Profound" refers to the nature of emptiness. "Reason" refers to what is said in the Root Wisdom of the Middle Way and so on. "From the system of the venerable Nāgārjuna" means from the perspective of the venerable Nāgārjuna. "One should speak of how to abide according to the way it is" means one should speak as it is established in the Root Wisdom of the Middle Way and so on. This is the concluding remark. "As it is" refers to what the nature of phenomena is. "The true view of phenomena" refers to emptiness. "One should speak of how to abide as it is" means one should speak without distortion. This is the concluding remark. "Determining the scriptures without distortion" means that if the venerable Nāgārjuna understood reality, then at that time he would naturally have the ability to determine the scriptures without distortion. If there is doubt about whether he understood reality, how can one determine the scriptures without distortion? To answer this question, it is said, "From the scriptures," and so on. Bhikṣu means one who has been destroyed by afflictions. Having glory means having a collection of merit. Most famous means proclaiming fame in the ten directions. Nāga means Nāgārjuna, just as Vajrabhairava is called Bhairava, similarly the venerable Nāgārjuna is called

There is no fault in saying "Uba is a Naga." "The side of existence and non-existence is destroyed," which means that the aspects of existence and non-existence are blocked, and it abides in the Middle Way. The unsurpassed is the Mahayana, because there is no other vehicle more supreme than it. "Having attained the Joyful Ground," which means that having realized the suchness of all dharmas, one has attained the Joyful Ground. In order to explain other scriptural authorities, it is also said "Noble One" and so on. Licchavi refers to the lineage. "Young" means young in age. "Gradually" refers to the order of the grounds, such as the stainless one. If the scripture is valid, how is it valid? Like this, is the scripture valid because it is made by exhausting faults? Or is it not made by a person? The first case is not correct. Exhausting faults means exhausting faults such as desire, and having the ability to see the true meaning as it is, and having qualities such as love. Definitely, it should be said that "it is made by exhausting faults," but it cannot be determined that it is made by exhausting faults, because it is impossible to know the minds of others. Like this, knowing the minds of others is from the perspective of the result, not from the perspective of the entity, because that itself needs to be proven. The results of bodily actions and so on can also be changed artificially. Because one sees those with desire doing actions without desire, and those without desire doing actions as if they had desire, therefore one cannot determine the sign of exhausting faults, so it is difficult to determine. Therefore, because it cannot be determined that it is made by exhausting faults, the scripture is not established as valid because it exhausts faults. The scripture that is not made by a person cannot be established as valid either. Like this, those who say that the scripture that is not made by a person is valid say this: Because a person is the basis of qualities and faults, therefore there may be inverted meanings in the words spoken by him, and there may also be true meanings. Therefore, due to the inversion of a person, there will be doubt about showing inverted meanings.
