This is an explanation of conduct. Not even generating mere manifestation of desire, not actually seeking, not envying, not generating a mind of attachment, this is said by making distinctions of small attachment, medium attachment, large attachment, and the great attachment of the great. The mind of loving-kindness is the aspect of wishing to have happiness in this life. The mind of compassion is the aspect of wishing all sentient beings to be free from suffering. The gentle mind is the aspect of wishing to have happiness and not be separated from it. Having a mind to benefit all beings is the aspect of wishing all sentient beings to be indifferent to all afflictions. Anger is the act of disturbing the mind, taking up sticks and weapons, etc., with a part of hatred if it is near to becoming a cause of harm. Holding a grudge is the act of not abandoning the continuation of opposition with a part of hatred because of that, and not tolerating harm. Taints are the three, such as desire, which make the mind generated for the purpose of attaining liberation unsuitable. Therefore, it is called stubborn because it is difficult to plow with the antidote plow, because it has become stubborn by the power of habituation in other births. Impurities are desire, hatred, and ignorance, because they become the cause of the impurity of the precepts of seeking. Harmful intent is hatred, the aspect of wanting to strike, kill, etc. Complete suffering is also threefold: desire, hatred, and ignorance. Because, relying on desire, hatred, and ignorance, inappropriate attention arises, therefore it causes suffering to body and mind. Disturbance means that those disturb the mind. Anger means the mind is rough. Thinking about those means repeatedly thinking about those. Abiding on the right path means that the correct view itself is the path of good rebirth, so it is the right path, and abiding on it. Auspicious means the calculator

That is, in order to fully know the future. "Auspicious" means observing good omens, such as entering the path. "Free from various evil views" means the various views taught in non-Buddhist treatises, being separate from those views. The explanation of "upright view" is being without deception and without hypocrisy. Among them, deception refers to being attached to gain and respect, possessing elements of greed, hatred, and delusion, not showing one's own qualities as they are, and obstructing the giving of true instruction. Being free from this is being without deception. Hypocrisy refers to being attached to gain and respect, possessing elements of greed, hatred, and delusion, showing untrue qualities, and being an action that serves as a basis for wrong livelihood. "The mind is determined" means to firmly view the existence of the Three Jewels, etc. "Thus" means according to the previously stated reasons. "Initial generation of the mind" refers to the stage of the first ground. Therefore, after reciting, it becomes very pure. This means that in order to be constant and uninterrupted, without degeneration, etc., one practices universally without clinging to the precepts. "That" refers to the Bodhisattva. "Those" refers to the paths of action. "Like the autumn moon" means that just as the autumn moon is peaceful and bright, so are the Bodhisattvas. Among them, "moon" means being free from suffering. Thus, even if the precepts are completely pure, if there is attachment to the meaning of the precepts, then the precepts are not completely pure. In order to show this, "Thus," etc., is stated. "Possessing precepts" means relying on guarding the precepts that have been taken. "Bound and abiding by the vows of individual liberation" is spoken in terms of the precepts of definite renunciation, because by this one can definitely be liberated from samsara. "Perfect in rituals and conduct" is spoken in terms of the undefiled precepts. Among them, "perfect in rituals" is

This is to avoid harming the conduct of mothers, etc. Perfection is because it transcends the five non-habitual places. The five non-habitual places are: the place where living beings are killed, the house of a prostitute, the house of a wine seller, the palace of a king, and the house of a bad caste. Not going to those places. The so-called "even small faults are regarded as fearful" is because one learns the precepts with great respect, just as with naturally occurring faults, one also learns the prescribed faults with great respect. The so-called "correctly taking and learning the bases of learning" is for learning all the places of learning that are completely perfect. For that very reason, it is also mentioned that the body and speech, etc., are understood. The so-called "living completely purely" is because it is free from hypocrisy, etc. The so-called "saying 'I'" is saying 'there is an I'. The explanation of "seeking discipline" is to pretend to be one who possesses discipline. The so-called "even if one has correctly taken up the twelve qualities of practice," the twelve qualities of practice are: begging for alms, eating in one sitting, not accepting food added later, three Dharma robes, wearing felt, holding rag robes, living in a monastery, living under a tree, having no eaves, living in a cemetery, constantly squatting, and living as it is. Among these, begging for alms means eating what is obtained by begging from known or unknown castes. Eating in one sitting means sitting on one seat and eating as much as one can, without getting up from that seat to eat again. Not accepting food added later means sitting on the seat and accepting as much as one can eat, and not accepting additional food after eating. The three Dharma robes are the monastic skirt, the upper garment, and the lower garment, protecting these three Dharma robes. Not holding clothes that are more than the three Dharma robes. That is what is said. Wearing felt means that all three Dharma robes or clothes that are more than three Dharma robes are made of wool, and not of other materials. Holding rag robes refers to feces, pus and blood, saliva, etc., discarded by others on the road, etc.
