La. The excellent result of giving is the complete satisfaction of the beggar's mind. Its perfection is multitude itself. The meaning of this is that Bodhisattvas are primarily concerned with the benefit of others, so they consider the perfection of completely satisfying the beggar's mind to be the result of giving. Therefore, words like "thus" are the conclusion's summary. The so-called "cause of all eminence and definite goodness is giving" is as it is said, "At that time, the cause of perfect enlightenment is giving itself at the beginning," so it is said that for those with love, giving is definitely the cause of goodness. As it is said, "All these beings desire happiness," it is said that for those without love, giving is the cause of eminence and definite goodness. As it is said, "Vowing to benefit beings," those with love are said to be the cause of manifest excellence, so it is said that it is eminence. The so-called "giving in the manner of enjoyment" is in order to answer them in the manner of giving form and so on to others, so it is said, "It should be said," and so on. How do Bodhisattvas derive happiness from hearing the beggar's voice and thoughts, just as the Buddhas, that is, the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, enter into peace and do not bring happiness by stopping the mind and mental factors. The so-called "abandoning everything" and so on refers to abandoning internal and external things themselves. In order to show this through explanation, "for a while" and so on are said, which is easy to understand. To this, others ask, as it is said, "And from where else?" The so-called "saying thus" refers to saying "great happiness arises." Because of having compassion and abandoning stinginess, Bodhisattvas should reasonably derive great joy from giving up things. But when, when the inner self is begged for, how can great joy arise since there is suffering in the body from cutting off hands and feet and so on?

That is the meaning. In order to answer this question, it is said "explanation" and so on. Like this, there are two kinds of Bodhisattvas: one who has realized the all-pervading Dharmadhatu and has attained the state of non-attachment; and the other who has not realized it and is in the state of attachment. If we speak from the perspective of the former Bodhisattva, then it is said "For the great beings" and so on. The meaning of this is as follows: Because they have realized the all-pervading Dharmadhatu, they can be cut like those without mind, and there is no concept of the cutter and suffering, so where is the opportunity for suffering? In order to point out the source of the Sutra, it is said "The Noble One" and so on. "Following attachment to them" means that one will not develop following attachment to that person, thinking "This person has not cut us off." "Without anger" means that one will not develop hatred because one thinks "This person has cut us off." "Discrimination" refers to what is to be cut off. "This is the cutter, this is the cut" is the characteristic of this. "Various discriminations" is the explanation of discrimination. "Like the sky" means that, for example, the sky is without clouds and completely pure, similarly, the Bodhisattva is also completely pure in patience because he is without discrimination. In order to point out the source of the Ratnavali, it is said "Ratnavali" and so on. Among them, "They have no physical suffering" means that because that Bodhisattva does not commit sins and accumulates merit, he will not be reborn in the lower realms, so there is no physical suffering such as burning and cutting. Therefore, in the Ratnavali it is said: "Sin causes the body to be born in the lower realms, there is suffering, hunger, thirst, etc. He has not committed sins, because of merit, if there is attachment to others, then he does not have it." "Where is the mental suffering" means that because he has realized the meaning of the all-pervading Dharmadhatu, mental discomfort caused by desire and hatred will not arise, that is the meaning. Therefore, precisely because of this, due to ignorance, the mental

Suffering is attachment, hatred, fear, desire, and so on. With wisdom that is without support, quickly abandon these. Thus it is said. The wisdom that is without support is the knowledge of suchness. "With compassion, one suffers for the world," means that with the power of compassion, one suffers because of the suffering of others. "Therefore, one dwells for a long time," means that because of suffering for the suffering of others, this Bodhisattva dwells in samsara without beginning or end. The meaning of this is that the Bodhisattva, with the power of compassion, suffers because of the suffering of others, and therefore, as long as the suffering of others is not removed, the Bodhisattva constantly dwells in the world. Here, "He has no bodily suffering" is a knowable that is appropriate to the occasion. If here the Bodhisattva, at the time of giving, has no suffering arising from cutting off the body and so on, this is saying, as it is said in the Ratnavali: "He has no bodily suffering." This verse, because of the power of accumulating merit, Bodhisattvas have no bodily suffering caused by the lower realms. How can this be taken as a knowable? It is not so, because the phrase "He has no bodily suffering" itself has two meanings: in relation to a Bodhisattva without attachment, and in relation to a Bodhisattva with attachment. When it is spoken from the perspective of a Bodhisattva without attachment, then "He has no bodily suffering" is because the body is manifested as being without inherent existence, therefore he has no bodily suffering. Speaking in relation to a Bodhisattva with attachment is the former meaning. Therefore, here it is spoken from the perspective of a Bodhisattva without attachment, and the source of knowledge is cited. Or, "With compassion, one suffers for the world," this is shown as a knowable. Thus, Bodhisattvas, according to the reasoning shown earlier, do not have suffering of body and mind. Although one has no suffering oneself, because of the suffering of the world, one experiences the suffering of cutting off hands, feet, and so on.
