It should be known. The wisdom that arises from dwelling in these places is called the wisdom of benefiting sentient beings, because it is proficient in these places, it can help to benefit sentient beings. By giving correct teachings, sentient beings are liberated. The means of the perfection of generosity, etc., have been explained before. Now, in order to reveal the hidden qualities of the perfection of generosity as a definite sign, it is said, "Giving one's own flesh and blood," etc. The Bodhisattva's giving of his own flesh and blood is also a respectful giving of his own flesh and blood, which is a sign of realizing the inconceivable ground, that is the meaning. In order to explain it with commentary, it is said, "At that time," etc. "At that time" refers to the time of giving. "Realizing the ground," etc., refers to realizing the Extremely Joyful Ground, etc. The word "etc." includes shaking hundreds of thousands of worlds, etc. "Outer" refers to wealth, children, wives, etc. "Inner" refers to starting from the feet and hands, up to the body. This itself is the first, because it can function. The characteristic of giving is emptiness with yoga without object of reference. This can be inferred, because it is inferred through it, so it is inference, that is, a sign. The meaning here is that when a Bodhisattva realizes the first ground, he realizes that the realm of reality is all-pervasive. This is also known through giving one's own flesh and blood, etc. If the Bodhisattva does not realize that the realm of reality is all-pervasive, how can he give flesh and blood, etc.? Therefore, by giving one's own flesh and blood, etc., one can realize that the realm of reality is all-pervasive. Similarly, other qualities should also be said in this way. In order to explain with the commentary of the two verses before and after, it is said, "How," etc. "Eliminating suffering is the cause of obtaining eternal happiness" means that only eliminating suffering is eternal happiness, and it is not thought that there is happiness in things themselves.

In order to show that it is so, it is said, "These people," etc. The meaning of "enjoyment" is that it is enjoyed, so it is enjoyment. That is, form and sound, etc. The meaning of "first" is before the (declaration of) the precepts, etc. The rest is easy to understand. In order to explain it with commentary, in "the remedy for suffering," etc., "merely the remedy for suffering" means to remedy the suffering of hunger, etc., which is characterized by hunger, etc. "Becoming the cause of the arising of the happiness of existence" means that the happiness of samsara, which is characterized by the cessation of hunger, etc., becomes the cause of the arising of that (happiness) in continuity. "Merely clinging to the continuum of self with inverted thought" means to cling to non-happiness as happiness. Like this, if (happiness) is the nature of happiness, then it will never change, because it is unreasonable for the nature to change, and the suffering of complete change itself is the cause of suffering. "Hunger and thirst," etc., is to nourish the remedy for hunger and thirst, etc., with food and drink, etc. Whatever eliminates harm is called that. "Very clinging" means to cling to the remedy for hunger, etc., which is not the nature of happiness, as happiness itself. This treatise, like the feet of the master Chandrakirti, etc., does not slander mundane happiness. If you ask, then how does it say "not the nature of happiness"? No, because it has a hidden meaning. Like this, in order to make worldly people disgusted with the happiness of samsara, it is said that "not the nature of happiness," it is not said that the mundane happiness of worldly people does not exist. Therefore, in the Four Hundred Verses, it is said that after completely completing this explanation, it is classified. Like this, in order to make all sentient beings in the three realms disgusted with the prison of samsara with the words of suffering that do not have perfection, it is said that birth is "impermanent," etc.
