The term "meaningless" means that the elements are not formed by mixing with each other, so they have no self-nature. The term "aggregate is meaningless" means that the four elements have no self-nature, so the aggregation of the four elements has no self-nature. The term "because the aggregate itself is meaningless" means that the aggregate has no self-nature. The term "form is also" refers to the form that depends on the four elements, and the form whose nature is smell, taste, and touch. The term "in reality" means the same as before. The term "meaningless" means how can there be self-nature in something that depends on no self-nature? That is the meaning. Thus, after showing that the form aggregate has no self-nature, in order to show that the feeling aggregate, etc., also have no self-nature, the term "consciousness" etc. is mentioned. Merely knowing the individual objects such as blue and yellow is the consciousness aggregate. Experiencing pleasure, pain, and equanimity is the feeling aggregate. Arising from the mind and grasping the characteristics of blue and yellow, etc., that is the perception aggregate. The mental states that are different from form, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness, that are in accordance with the mind, and the attainments, etc., that are not in accordance with the mind, are the formation aggregate. The term "everywhere" means from the perspective of no arising from self, other, etc. The term "individually" refers to each aggregate. The term "because self-nature is meaningless" means that each aggregate has no self-nature. The term "meaningless in the ultimate sense" means that in the ultimate truth, these four aggregates have no self-nature, that is the meaning. Thus, after showing that the aggregates have no self-nature, now, in order to show that by fully understanding that the aggregates have no self-nature, there is no pleasure and pain, because by abandoning the craving that is associated or not associated with pleasure and pain, liberation will be attained, therefore the term "how suffering" etc. is mentioned. Because when observed with reason, there is no feeling of pleasure and pain, therefore the suffering of hunger, thirst, etc., which are of their own nature, is eliminated.

Moreover, pride arises from the satisfaction, etc., caused by food, etc. The term "in reality" refers to through reason. Similarly, it destroys the happiness of satisfaction, etc., and extreme pride arises from the suffering caused by hunger, etc. The term "happiness," etc., refers to the existence of wishing to be happy and encountering happiness. Thus, the term "because of no self-nature" means completely knowing that the aggregates are without self-nature through the previously shown manner. The term "abandoning the desire to be free from suffering" means wishing to be free from suffering and completely abandoning the desire to be free from suffering. The term "therefore" means because there is no conceptualization of happiness and suffering. The term "seeing thus" means completely knowing that the two kinds of existence are without self-nature and completely seeing that they will be abandoned. The term "liberation" means because there is no birth arising from desire. Its meaning is: having realized that happiness and suffering, etc., are without self-nature, and having fully understood that these are attachments, by reversing existence towards them, birth is exhausted, and thus liberation is attained. The phrase "who will see" is to dispel the doubts of others, just as you fully know that earth is without self-nature, thereby abandoning the two desires and attaining liberation, it is said. Because you wish for there to be no knower, you ask who will see. The answer to this is, in conventional truth, it refers to the mind, which is said in relation to worldly people, that the mind can see. Why is it not said that the mind can see from the ultimate truth? Because there is no mind separate from the mind, if feelings and other things arising from the mind do not exist, then the mind also does not exist. Therefore, it is by relying on things arising from the mind that the existence of the mind is established, but it is not established as one by its own nature. Whatever is a dependent nature is not existent by its own nature, like the warmth of water. Precisely for this reason, it is said that self-nature is not artificial, nor is it dependent on others. The phrase "because it is meaningless"
