Gradually, based on the skeleton filled with bones, up to the endless ocean, one cultivates fondness in order to increase fondness. Furthermore, gathering is done to gather the mind, focusing solely on one's own skeleton of bones. This alone is the completion of the impure. This is the first practice. In order to particularly gather the mind, from that skeleton of bones, abandon the bones of the feet and contemplate the remainder, and similarly, abandon half of the skull and contemplate up to half of the skull, this should be completely practiced. Having abandoned even half of the skull, holding the mind between the two eyebrows, this is the yogi who has perfected the contemplation of the impure. Remembering inhaling and exhaling, whatever air enters inside is inhaling. Whatever air comes out is exhaling, remembering those. Although that is already the nature of wisdom, it is also called mindfulness, because it enters through the power of mindfulness. Inhaling and exhaling also transform into six aspects, such as counting, namely counting, following, placing, closely placing, transforming, and completely purifying. Among these, counting is abandoning attachment to inhaling and exhaling, without any manifest activity, relaxing the body and mind, and merely with mindfulness counting from one to ten, in order to gather the mind and avoid distraction, not too much or too little. Among these, first count the inhaling, and later remember the exhaling. There are three faults in this: if one considers two as one, it is the fault of incomplete counting. If one considers one as two, it is the fault of over-counting. If one considers inhaling as exhaling, or exhaling as inhaling, it is the fault of searching for counting. Other than that is correct counting. Even if the mind wanders in between, one should count from the beginning until samadhi is attained. What is called following is, how long do these arise or enter? Do these pervade the entire body?
