These fifteen moments are called the path of seeing. Abiding in these fifteen moments is called entering for the purpose of manifesting the fruit of stream-entry. Possessing that object and that aspect, having the nature of the path of liberation, practicing in the form and formless realms, the moment of subsequent knowledge of the path that goes to stop suffering is the fourth. Here is the sixteenth moment. Abiding in this is called a stream-enterer. The ten subtle increasing aspects to be abandoned by meditation, as before, each ground has nine aspects, so they abide in eighty-one aspects. Because the path that becomes the antidote to each aspect is the uninterrupted path, and it abides in the nature of the path of liberation, therefore, the classification of enterer and fruit should be made. Here, when the noble one who abides in the sixteen moments, from one of the aspects to be abandoned by meditation, up to the fifth aspect, is abandoned, then it is called entering the fruit of once-returner. Similarly, when the sixth aspect to be abandoned by meditation is abandoned, then it is called a once-returner. Similarly, when the seventh and eighth aspects to be abandoned by meditation are abandoned, then it is called entering the fruit of non-returner. When that ninth aspect to be abandoned by meditation is abandoned, then it is called a non-returner. When, from one of the aspects of that first dhyana, up to the eighth aspect of the peak of existence, is abandoned, and when abiding in the uninterrupted path of abandoning the ninth aspect, it is also called entering the fruit of Arhat. After abandoning the ninth aspect, when abiding in the path of liberation, it is called Arhat. Thus, with the difference of entering and abiding in the path of the fruit, the Hearers should establish it as eightfold. Similarly, in the Great Vehicle, it is also said that the ten Bodhisattva grounds of the Bodhisattvas, just as relying on the difference of abiding in the path, the Hearers establish it as eightfold, similarly, relying on the path, the Bodhisattva grounds are also

It should be established in this way. Therefore, one should not doubt the Mahayana. In order to show that it is the same as the state before the path of seeing, it is also said "how" and so on. The so-called arising of a state corresponding to the part of ascertainment refers to arising from the heat position, the peak position, the forbearance position, and the supreme worldly dharma position. The order for this is as follows: One who wants to see the truth must first keep the Pratimoksha vows. After that, listen to the Dharma that is in accordance with seeing the truth. After hearing, contemplate it properly. After contemplating, diligently practice samadhi. If the practice of samadhi is free from distractions and unwholesome thoughts, it will be accomplished. Being free from distractions means dwelling in a solitary place. Being free from unwholesome thoughts means abandoning desire, hatred, and harmful thoughts. These two kinds of solitude can only be achieved by those who are content with receiving neither too much nor too little, and who have no desire for not receiving too much. Having thus become a vessel for practice, one should first practice shamatha-vipassana. There are also two kinds of people who practice shamatha-vipassana: those who are accustomed to desire and those who are accustomed to thoughts. For those who are accustomed to desire, shamatha-vipassana should be generated through the practice of ugliness meditation. For those who are accustomed to thoughts, shamatha-vipassana should be generated through breathing and mindfulness of the elements. Because ugliness meditation focuses on color and shape, it does not abandon thoughts, but rather hides them. There are three types of ugliness meditation: beginners, those who have been completely subdued, and those who have perfected their attention. For beginners, one first focuses on the toes of the body, etc., and then visualizes it decaying, breaking, and falling, then gradually purifying it into bones, and gradually visualizing one's entire body as the nature of white bones. Similarly, for the second type of person, one should have even more faith, towards temples, monasteries, towns and fields.
