The recollection is that I am named thus, my clan is thus, my lineage is thus, my food is thus, I have lived thus long, I have reached the end of my life thus, and having passed away from there, I was born here, complete with form, complete with name, complete with cause, and even complete with various forms, one will be able to recollect past abodes. One will also be able to recollect the past existences of others through that very door. The direct knowledge of death and birth is the concentration and wisdom that, relying on meditation, truly achieves the seeing of the death and birth of sentient beings, and the mind and mental factors that are in accordance with them. The true achievement of seeing the death and birth of those is that, with the divine eye purified and surpassing the human, one sees sentient beings, their death and birth, and those who have been born, whether their complexion is good or bad, inferior or superior, whether they are in happy or unhappy migrations, one thoroughly knows sentient beings who go according to their actions. That is, sentient beings who are endowed with good bodily conduct, good verbal conduct, and good mental conduct, who do not slander the noble ones, and who are endowed with right view, due to that cause of good conduct, after the body is destroyed and death, will be born in the happy migration, in the world of gods in the heavens. And sentient beings who are endowed with bad bodily conduct, bad verbal conduct, and bad mental conduct, who slander the noble ones, who have wrong views, and who hold onto wrong views, due to that cause of bad conduct, after the body is destroyed and death, will be born in the unhappy migration, falling into hell. Thus, the divine eye thoroughly sees the ten directions of the world, reaching the edge of the expanse of space, and truly knows the death and birth of sentient beings in the six realms as they are. The direct knowledge of the exhaustion of defilements is the concentration and wisdom that, relying on meditation, truly achieves the knowledge of the exhaustion of defilements, what

And those minds and mental factors that are similar to that. The attainment of the knowledge of the exhaustion of defilements is the knowledge of how defilements are exhausted and what kind of person attains exhaustion. Among them, the direct realization of the exhaustion of defilements will be attained on the eighth ground, because there is no manifestation of conceptualization. In the Buddha-field, it will be completely perfected, because the conceptualization that has become a habitual tendency will be exhausted. The inexhaustible direct perception is entered without effort, therefore it is shown that the seventh generation of mind arises simultaneously with direct perception. This mind generation is like a wish-fulfilling jewel, because the fruit is truly attained as desired. The eighth mind generation is that which arises simultaneously with the perfection of power, and that which arises simultaneously with the four objects of gathering. Among them, the power of individual examination and the power of cultivation are not overcome by opposing factors, which is called the perfection of power. Among them, individual examination is wisdom. Cultivation is the habituation of virtuous Dharma. Because these two are not overcome by opposing factors, they are called the perfection of power. Its function is to engage in the definite arising in each moment, etc., because it has the power of individual examination and cultivation, the opposing factors of virtuous deeds such as generosity are not overcome. The power spoken of in other sutras should also be understood as this. Thus, there is the power of thought. Because there is no manifestation of affliction. There is also the power of higher thought, because the knowledge of the ground is completely purified. There is also the power of dharani, because it is of the nature of not forgetting. There is also the power of samadhi, because it is always undistracted. There is also the power of perfect attainment, because it is skilled in the distinctions of the behavior of the infinite and boundless world realms. There is also the power of mastery, because all desires are completely fulfilled. There is also the power of fearlessness, because it is skilled in thoroughly distinguishing and differentiating all the Buddha's teachings.
