This ground becomes valid, not others. It is the same for instants and so on. Thus, depending on certainty, the arrangement of sixteen instants of the path of seeing is made. If asked what the difference is between ordinary beings and noble ones, it should not be said, because to the extent that they eliminate aspects, to that extent their consciousness is free from the characteristics of error, and the noble ones have such differences. Moreover, when the realm of phenomena is indivisible, although it has already been individually realized by all natures, it is necessary to rely on birth, and to individually realize it for the sake of pervasiveness, at which time the extremely clear consciousness that manifests all phenomena as without self-nature arises, it is said that the Bodhisattva has attained the path of seeing. Therefore, even by directly realizing suchness in a single instant, it is also reasonable to cultivate the path in order to cut off the inverted afflictions and the innate superimpositions. The distinctions of the path of seeing have been explained. In this state, by attaining the transcendental path that accomplishes the benefit of oneself and others, the Bodhisattva becomes exceedingly joyful in each and every instant, therefore it is called the Joyful Ground. Furthermore, joy is mental pleasure. It has nine aspects. Among them, the initial joy is in the Three Jewels. The pleasing joy is joy in the object. The joy of seeing the mind is seeing the distinction of one's own realization. The supreme joy is increasing by cherishing one's own body and mind. The extreme joy is pervading by cherishing body and mind. The joyful joy is seeing nearness to enlightenment. The undisturbed joy is not disturbed by the words of increase for the sake of fully maturing one's own continuum. The harmless joy is compassion and skillful means when gathering sentient beings for the sake of fully maturing others. The non-wrathful joy is patience when sentient beings act wrongly. Thus, because of the nine aspects of joy, it is called the Joyful Ground. End.

The only way to enter the path of seeing, and how to practice accumulation of merit, has been explained before. The path of seeing is also called the nature of the limbs of enlightenment, because the essence of enlightenment is non-conceptual wisdom, which realizes suchness and is the nature of the path of seeing. Because mindfulness and the other six are in accordance with enlightenment, they are limbs of enlightenment. Discrimination of dharma is the nature of enlightenment, so it is enlightenment, and because it becomes a companion to mindfulness and others, it is also a limb, therefore it is called the seven limbs of enlightenment. Other schools say that discrimination of dharma, which is included in the path of no interruption, is called the limb of enlightenment, and that which is included in liberation is called enlightenment. Regarding the limbs of enlightenment, there are five classifications: object, essence, companion, practice, and the difference of the fruit of practice. Among them, the object is the conviction of the suchness of the four noble truths, which is the ultimate truth. The essence is mindfulness, discrimination of dharma, diligence, joy, pliancy, samadhi, and equanimity. Among them, mindfulness is the limb of the support of enlightenment, because the power of mindfulness makes it not distracted from the object. Discrimination of dharma is the limb of self-nature, because enlightenment is the self-nature of wisdom. Diligence is the limb of definite emergence, because diligence causes one to transcend the ground of ordinary beings. Joy is the limb of benefit, because it nourishes body and mind. Pliancy, samadhi, and equanimity are the limbs of non-affliction, because they are the antidotes to afflictions. Among them, the basis of non-affliction is pliancy. The support of non-affliction is samadhi. The nature of non-affliction is equanimity, because this is the purity of non-affliction, and its basis is the cause, which is pliancy. Because pliancy is the antidote to the basis of affliction, it is called the basis of non-affliction.

It should be done. Like this, because the body and mind are not suitable places, the mind cannot abide in one-pointedness, therefore the mind will be distracted. For a distracted mind, afflictions such as attachment will arise completely. Therefore, the unsuitability of body and mind itself is a place. The antidote to the basis of affliction is extreme pliancy. That is also the basis of no affliction, because the body and mind are suitable, the mind can abide equally, knowing as it is, therefore it can eliminate afflictions. Like this, because it is the antidote to the basis of affliction, extreme pliancy is also called the basis of no affliction. The support of no affliction is samadhi. Because the mind can abide equally, knowing as it is, therefore it can eliminate afflictions. The nature of no affliction is equanimity, because it is free from greed and displeasure, etc., and the equal mind that is in accordance with being in a state of affliction is the antidote to non-equanimity. Others are the afflictions that should be abandoned by seeing with the path of seeing, and after abandoning them, they are purified from the cause and nature of the afflictions, and are called being included in the path of liberation. And the wisdom that arises from distinguishing and determining is called equanimity, because in order to achieve the purpose, it is thought that it has been exhausted and enters into a state of equanimity. The essence has been shown. The companions are the mind and mental factors that have the same qualities as those. Meditation is mindfulness, the path of perfect enlightenment, abiding in solitude, abiding in detachment, abiding in cessation, meditating on complete transformation and abandonment. Just as mindfulness is a branch of perfect enlightenment, so it is up to the branch of equanimity, perfect enlightenment. Abiding in truth, abiding in detachment, abiding in cessation, and the four words of completely transforming and abandoning, completely show that the branches of enlightenment are meditated upon by focusing on the four truths. Like this, focusing on suffering as suffering itself is because seeking to be free from it.
