The death transference that is explained in detail is the cessation of the self's objects that were encompassed by previous migrations. In the death transference of inconceivable complete dedication, "inconceivable" means not being encompassed by the desire realm, etc. "Complete dedication" means completely dedicating oneself to Buddhahood itself. Therefore, Arhats and Pratyekabuddhas will not abandon afflictions and the habitual imprints of ignorance. Since they have not abandoned these, they will not abandon the habitual imprints of all afflictions. However, they will take another existence and engage in the conduct of Bodhisattvas. Furthermore, how do they take existence? Through the power of causes and the power of conditions. Among these, the habitual imprints of those who have completely abandoned afflictions are the conditions, and wholesome roots with outflows are also the cause for taking existence, while wholesome roots without outflows are the cause. Similarly, Ocean of Intelligence, what afflictions are in accordance with the wholesome roots that bind one to cyclic existence? For example, what causes Bodhisattvas to be afflicted is this: not being satisfied with accumulating the accumulations of merit, taking rebirth after properly contemplating, desiring to meet with Buddhas, not being weary of completely ripening sentient beings, desiring to completely uphold the sacred Dharma, having the desire to think "what should be done" for sentient beings, not abandoning the subtle attachment to Dharma, and not abandoning the complete application of the perfections. Someone said: Blessed One, when is it a wholesome root, and why is it called an affliction? The Buddha said: Ocean of Intelligence, Bodhisattvas abide in the three realms because of these kinds of natures. The three realms also arise from afflictions. However, Bodhisattvas are skilled in means and increase the power of wholesome roots, and after properly contemplating, they abide in the three realms. Therefore, the wholesome roots that cause one to abide in the three realms are called afflictions that are in accordance with afflictions, but it is not because they cause the mind to be afflicted. And so forth, the Buddha spoke. The Great Vehicle Treatise on the Sublime Continuum.

Moreover, it is dependent on the undefiled karma, which is completely aroused by the subtle cause of action arising from the abode of ignorance and the cause of the abode of ignorance, that the aggregates of the mind-made body arise. Among them, such as the all-pervading defilement of afflictions is the abode of ignorance; such as the all-pervading defilement of karma is the manifest action of undefiled karma. Such as the all-pervading defilement of birth is the manifest accomplishment of the three aspects of the self-nature of the mind-made body. Aging and death, etc., which are the causes of it, are the inconceivable and completely dedicated death transference. These causes of the abode of ignorance and undefiled karma also have birth, as it is said in the Sutra of the Lion's Roar of the Auspicious Garland: "Bhagavan, just as the three existences with attachment as the condition and defiled karma as the cause exist, similarly, Bhagavan, for the Arhats, Pratyekabuddhas, and Bodhisattvas who have attained mastery, with the abode of ignorance as the condition and undefiled karma as the cause, the three bodies of the nature of mind exist," thus it is extensively said. Among them, the three mind-made bodies are those of the Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Bodhisattvas. Bodhisattvas on the eighth ground will attain the state of mastery over all dharmas. Now, it must be said whether the self-nature is this world or the next world, the desire realm, the form realm, or the formless realm, etc. Neither the going, nor the place of birth, nor the world, nor the three existences should be counted. Then, how is the accomplishment of the self-nature? The mind-made body is like an illusion, but it is not an illusion to be seen. To say 'existence' is to impute it by the power of birth over death transference. If there is benefit for sentient beings, then it appears in this going and that place of birth by the attainment of mastery, but if there is no benefit for sentient beings, then it does not appear. That self-nature is also accumulated by the undefiled roots of virtue, so it should be called the accumulated cycle. Defiled karma and afflictions, etc.
