Because one is not yet mature, virtuous friends are needed to bring about maturity, which is the characteristic of virtuous friends. As for "admonishing and subsequently instructing," the teaching that leads to understanding is admonishment, which is teaching the Dharma. After teaching the Dharma, causing one to engage in practice is subsequent instruction. The phrase "endowed with cause and condition" and so forth refers to hearing the Dharma that arises from the principle of dependent origination and that contradicts the principle of dependent origination. "Properly applying the mind" means entering into the true nature of things as they are. "Not completely tamed" means not being accustomed to hearing and so forth. "Small hope" means small diligence and wisdom. Therefore, one is foolish. Therefore, it is said that one has "not become a vessel," because one is not a vessel for the path. This also depends on the circumstances at the time; otherwise, for their sake, Bodhisattvas should not wear armor. Therefore, it is established that there are no beings who do not possess the potential. "Arising from an attractive appearance" refers to arising from seeing the beautiful appearance of women and so forth. "There is also arising from the appearance of subsequent attachment," which refers to arising from appearances of intimacy and scolding, and so forth. "There is also arising from the cause of previous latent tendencies," which refers to arising from the latent tendencies of previous desire. "There is also arising from the cause of anger," which refers to arising from the anger that arises from harm done by others. "There is also arising from the non-fulfillment of wishes," which refers to arising from not obtaining the desired object. "There is also arising from previous latent tendencies," which refers to arising from the latent tendencies of previous anger. "There is also arising from the cause of ignorance," which refers to the fact that because ignorance and the view of the aggregates act together, the view of the aggregates is the cause of the simultaneous arising of ignorance. Similarly, one should also know that it arises from the cause of doubt. "Becoming the cause of entering" refers to the paths of desire and so forth. "Becoming the cause of turning back,"

The so-called "limb path" refers to the paths that are completely determined. The so-called "those" refers to the path. In order to explain the seventh power, now "meditation" and so on are explained. Among them, there are four meditations. There are eight liberations. Samadhi is the characteristic of focusing the mind on virtue. There are nine attainments. From where do all defilements and purifications arise? That is, from where do all defilements and purifications arise, that is the arising of all defilements and purifications. What are their causes? Knowing these without obstruction, wisdom is power. In order to explain this, "world" and so on are explained. The so-called "different from yoga difference" means that due to the differences of yogis with dull faculties, etc., meditation and so on are also different. The so-called "one and eight transformations" refers to the nine gradual attainments. In order to explain it through explanation, "those" and so on are explained. Among them, meditation and so on have been explained before. The explanation of the nine gradual attainments is "four meditations" and so on. The explanation of all defilements and purifications is the explanation of "the cause of all defilements is" and so on. Among them, ignorance is not understanding. Taking permanence, purity, happiness, etc. as real when they are not, is inappropriate attention. That is the cause of all defilements, because greed and so on arise by the power of them. The so-called "sound that agrees with others" refers to teaching the Dharma that agrees with the faculties. The so-called "appropriate attention" refers to attending to reality as it is. That is the cause of purification, because it abandons greed and so on. In order to explain the source of the sutra, "as it is said" and so on are explained. The so-called "cause" refers to the direct cause. The so-called "condition is ignorance" refers to the cause of working together, that is, if there is inappropriate attention, then there is ignorance.
