The so-called "third possessor of fourfold stability" refers to the samadhi that attains purity of ground by dwelling in view, having obtained mutually dependent perception, mutually conforming perception, and mutually becoming one perception for each of pleasant and unpleasant forms. Among these, for pleasant and unpleasant forms, mutually becoming one perception is obtained by relying on mutually dependent perception and mutually conforming perception. For example, observing pleasant forms, the feeling of unpleasantness different from it arises; observing unpleasant forms, the feeling of pleasantness also arises. If they do not mutually depend, this feeling will not arise, because no matter what is seen, the thought of pleasantness or unpleasantness will not arise. Similarly, unpleasantness conforms to pleasantness, and pleasantness conforms to unpleasantness. For example, hair and so on, which are considered pleasant, are also included among the thirty-six impure substances. Therefore, by mixing all forms together, one becomes more focused on this through the perception of becoming one with pleasantness. It is precisely for this reason that it is called the liberation of pleasantness. As desired, obtaining the correct accomplishment of becoming more focused on forms will lead to the abandonment of the illusory all-pervasive afflictions. The so-called "four formless realms" refer to the liberation of the sphere of infinite space, the liberation of the sphere of infinite consciousness, the liberation of the sphere of nothingness, and the liberation of the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. Among these, the liberation of the sphere of infinite space refers to the samadhi that is in accordance with liberation, dwells in the sphere of infinite space, and possesses the characteristic of correct accomplishment. Similarly, these, such as the sphere of infinite consciousness, are also in accordance with the uncontaminated, so the name "liberation" can be obtained, because tasting its flavor leads to liberation. The so-called "cessation of perception and feeling" refers to relying on the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception, transcending the liberation of tranquility, being in accordance with liberation, correctly accomplishing the obscuration of the cessation of perception and feeling, and not extinguishing mind and mental factors in order to obtain liberation from the obscuration.

These eight liberations are called the abodes of the noble ones, because the noble ones dwell in them. Among them, the noble ones dwell in two abodes many times, the third and eighth abodes are where the noble ones mostly dwell, because they are the best. Therefore, it is said that they dwell in these abodes, having manifested them with their bodies and perfected them. It is not so with other abodes, because they have abandoned all the obscurations of the liberations of form and formlessness through these abodes, in sequence. In order to show the characteristics of the powers, it is said, "The powers," and so on. Because of possessing unobstructed wisdom regarding what is and is not, etc., having a very definite characteristic, it cannot be overwhelmed by opposing sides. Therefore, it is said, "By very thorough definiteness." In order to show the characteristics of fearlessnesses, it is said, "Protecting," and so on. The protector is the Buddha Bhagavan who has understood the path and teaches it well, and his fearlessness has a very firm characteristic, because no one can shake the four vows. In order to show these that were previously shown, it is said, "Fearlessnesses are four," and so on. Among them, the four fearlessnesses are: fearlessness in perfect enlightenment, fearlessness in the exhaustion of defilements, fearlessness in the obstructing dharmas, and fearlessness in the path of definite emergence. Fearlessness in perfect enlightenment is relying on meditation, for the sake of one's own benefit, vowing to perfectly awaken in all aspects, having mastery over the samadhi and wisdom that abide in this vow, and the mind and mental factors that are in accordance with them. In order to show this, it is said, "For example," and so on. "Whoever" means other than śrāmaṇas, etc. "In accordance with the Dharma" means reasonably. Fearlessness in the exhaustion of defilements is for one's own benefit, vowing to exhaust defilements in all aspects, steadfast
