If you say that it doesn't harm us because it would lead to being made, then in order to show that it is also unreasonable, (the scripture says) "How can it be reasonable for nature to be made?" Because what is made and nature are contradictory to each other, it is completely unreasonable. Like this, because it is one's own essence, it is called nature, which is the definition, so it cannot be said to be a made thing, for example, the warmth of water, which arises from contact with flames; and water crystals and so on have the nature of red lotus jewels and so on. If you say that what is made is nature, for example, the warmth of fire and the nature possessed by non-artificial red lotus jewels and so on, because their objects do not arise from contact with other things. In this way, what is not made is nature, because the world's saying is that it abides in this way, so we will also say that whatever the warmth of fire is, it is not nature, because it is made. Because jewels, firewood, and the sun, etc., meet, and drilling wood to make fire, etc., are dependent on the cause and condition of fire to appear, and it is also impossible for warmth to be different from fire. Therefore, because warmth is produced by cause and condition, it is made, so like the warmth of water, it will not become nature either, which should be clearly understood. If you say that herdsmen and women and so on all think that heat is the nature of fire, then how can you say that it is not nature? We will not say that we have not heard of it, but we will say that it should not become nature, because it does not have the characteristics of nature. This is because following the inversion of ignorance, the collection of things in the world that have no nature is understood to have nature. Just as a person with cataracts, because of the fault of cataracts, clings to things like hair that have no nature as having nature, similarly, the eye of wisdom blinded by the cataracts of ignorance will also cause children to cling to the collection of things that have no nature as having nature. Just like clinging to the four types of

That is where the characteristic is stated. The characteristic of fire is warmth. Because there is no other object besides that, because it is not common, but is the unique characteristic of itself, it is said to be its own characteristic. The Blessed One also established the characteristics of these as Dharma characteristics, because they are well-known to children. Impermanence and so on are common, so they are said to be common characteristics. When there is no darkness of ignorance, relying on the sight of the immaculate wisdom eye, then those without darkness, just as one cannot see the hair seen by the cause of darkness, are completely examined by the wisdom of children, and are of an invisible nature. The noble ones say that the nature of things is not like this. To this it is said, if the heat of fire and so on arises from causes and conditions, because it is made, it is said to be without self-nature, then what is the characteristic of self-nature? What is self-nature itself, that needs to be explained. To this, the answer needs to be given: Self-nature itself is uncreated, and does not depend on others. This has been said, and this has already been explained. The meaning of this is that the collection of things seen by the darkness of ignorance, for the noble ones who are free from the darkness of ignorance, in what way does the self-nature become an object of experience in an invisible way, that is called self-nature. Its characteristic is: Self-nature itself is uncreated, and does not depend on others. Like this, it is the distinction made by the teacher Nagarjuna and others. The self-nature of uncreatedness and so on is also not even a little, therefore it is the self-nature of non-things, because it is without self-nature. It should be known that the self-nature of things is not existent. Again, what is what, and so on, like that kind of self-nature, that is, uncreated, is the self-nature that does not depend on others. The teacher is the venerable Nagarjuna. What is specially distinguished in the scriptures is the difference between being uncreated and not depending on others.
