So, when the object to be refuted and the refuter become one, who refutes whom? If refutation occurs without meeting, then it is equivalent to not refuting, thus refutation becomes non-refutation, and it would follow that everything is refutation. Wouldn't this fault also befall you? This means that however cause and effect are refuted, that will also befall you. In order for the commentator to explain it, it is said, "If," and so on. "Having the ability to refute the object to be refuted and the refuter" means, does it produce the result after meeting, or does it produce it without meeting? "You have refuted the refuter itself" is because the object to be refuted has not been able to refute. "By implication" is because it shows that the refuter has no ability to refute, because the entity of cause and effect has not been negated, so the entity of cause and effect is established. In order to explain that itself, it is said, "When," and so on. When does it produce the result after meeting, or does it produce the result without meeting? Saying that, one's own side is the object to be refuted, and the side of the refuter is completely destroyed and annihilated, that is also because the examination of meeting and so on will bring the same fault. At that time, you cannot refute, refutation cannot refute. This means that when one's own side becomes the same fault, then the refuter has no ability to refute the object to be refuted, therefore, cause and effect and entity and so on cannot be refuted. In order to explain other faults, it is said, "Furthermore," and so on. "By pretending" refers to someone who appears to be a refuter. "How is it that someone appears to be a refuter?" The answer is, it is said, "Because the same mistake will also be made in one's own words," this is because the examination of meeting and so on will also be applied to the refutation of the Madhyamikas. "Accusing all things without reason" refers to refuting cause and effect without reason in the way that will be explained.

Therefore, it is to slander all things by way of... Therefore, it is said, "You will not be accepted by the holy ones," and so on. Because one groundlessly slanders all things, therefore you will not be accepted by the holy ones. The so-called "arguing accordingly" is because there are debaters who do not establish their own tenets and only engage in refuting others' tenets. For this very reason, it is said, "You have no own tenet," because the Madhyamikas do not accept any tenet. In order to explain it through commentary, it is said, "To that," and so on. It has already been said that the same fault occurs from one's own words. Does this refuter refute the refuted by contact or without contact? And so on. The so-called "magnet" is the special characteristic of a stone that attracts iron. The so-called "being in a suitable place" means being in a nearby place. The so-called "not all" means not being in a distant place. The so-called "only suitable fruits will be produced" means that it is suitable for anything that can be done, because it has the ability to produce in its own continuum. The so-called "not all will be produced" means that what is not suitable will not be produced. In order to explain the characteristics of arguing accordingly, it is said, "One's own tenet," and so on. To this, the Madhyamika replies, "To this it should be said," and so on. According to whose intention does the refuter refute the refuted by contact or without contact? To the intention of one who necessarily has a tenet, does the refuter refute the refuted by contact or without contact? Whatever is said is a fault. Because I have not accepted this tenet, the previously stated fault will not occur. The meaning here is that if the refuter and the refuted are established as entities, then an examination of contact and so on will be conducted. However, if the refuter and the refuted are not examined, but are merely happily regarded as worldly fame, then how can it be?

It becomes an involvement in aspects such as encountering, because only things are involved in aspects such as encountering. In order to show that what is said, "Because refuting one's own words with the consequence of the same fault is also not a change," therefore, it is said, "There must be a direction," and so on. In order for that to be shown by the commentator, therefore, it is said, "Regarding that, one's own words," and so on. In order to reveal the source of the Perfection of Wisdom for that meaning, it is said, "As it is said," and so on. "What" means a question. "Venerable Subhuti" is a term of respect. "By the law of the born" means, by that thing that obtains the result. "Will the attainment of the unborn be attained?" means, because it is unborn, will the attainment of the nature of the fruit, etc., that has entered the stream of the unborn, be attained? "However, will the unborn be attained by the unborn dharma?" means, because both what is to be attained and what attains are unborn. "Subhuti said" means that Subhuti answers Shariputra. The answer to that is "Venerable," and so on. "Does not desire to attain attainment" means that there is no attainment for the born and unborn, and for the unborn. Shariputra's answer is, "Shariputra said," and so on. "Without attainment and" means, in the state of combination. "There is no direct realization" means, in the state of the main practice. To this, Subhuti's answer is, "Subhuti said," and so on. "Not in the manner of two" means, not in the manner of two things, what is to be attained and what attains. Therefore, it is said, "Venerable Shariputra," and so on. In order to explain attainment and direct realization in detail, it is said, "Stream-enterer," and so on. "Stream-enterer," and so on, has already been explained before. "In the ultimate sense, there is no attainment and no direct realization" means that in the ultimate sense, attainment
