How can one be reborn again? This should be summarized. "For all" refers to the Buddha, the Bhagavan, and so on. "To engage in slander" refers to saying that the Buddha, the Bhagavan, does not exist, and so on. "The refuter follows the path that has already been explained" means that, as before, after blaming those who slander the afterlife, one should follow those blames. For example, from where does your certainty come that you think the Buddha, the Bhagavan, does not exist? If the answer is: because it is not directly perceived. Then, because it is not directly perceived, the Buddha, the Bhagavan, is not directly perceived, is it directly perceived? Is it not directly perceived? And so on, one should follow the refutations that have already been explained and thereby comprehend the refutations. "I" is in order to reveal that those who slander the afterlife, thinking that there is no afterlife, have a reversed knowledge. Therefore, "Moreover" and so on were said. "Moreover" means that other faults should also be mentioned. The explanation of "not true" is that such a situation is also not true. "To perceive the seen object in a reversed way" means to grasp the elements as having inherent existence, when in fact they do not have inherent existence. "Knowing that there is no afterlife, etc." refers to thinking that there is no afterlife, and thinking that there are no Buddhas. "Those elements," etc., the nature of the elements such as earth, that is, those elements that appear in your consciousness as having inherent existence, are not that nature, that is, they do not have inherent existence. "In that" refers to among the elements. "For whom" refers to those who say that consciousness arises from the elements. "The thick darkness of the mind" refers to extreme ignorance. Therefore, the afterlife How can one truly understand it? This sentence means, how can those who slander the afterlife truly understand the afterlife? Because there is a thick darkness in the mind, it is impossible to comprehend.

It is a negative word. In order to be explained by the commentator, "earth" and so on are said. What is meant by "how" is that which possesses nature. This indicates the non-realization of the other world. Now, in order to show that realizing the non-existence of the other world is a wrong view, "furthermore" and so on are said. It is understood to view the nature of knowable things in a perverted way. The so-called "saying" refers to the nature of knowable things characterized by the absence of the other world. Because this perverted view exists in this Lokayata, it is called viewing the nature of knowable things in a perverted way, which means having perverted knowledge of the absence of the other world. The so-called "self-nature" refers to one's own self-nature, which says that consciousness arises from the four great elements. The so-called "at the time of denying the other world" means saying "there is no other world" and arguing for the non-existence of the other world. The meaning here is that the self-nature of the Lokayata is the subject to be established, and at the time of denying the other world, it should be recognized as possessing a perverted view of the nature of knowable things, which is the dharma to be established. The reason is: because the basis of his form of view is the same, and because he possesses a body. It is said, "because the basis of his form of view is the same, and because he possesses a body." That Lokayata believes that there is no other world, and believes that there is no Buddha in the world. The basis of his form of view is the same, and it is not the basis of correct views and so on, but possesses wrong views, because whatever the cause is, that itself is the object. In order to illustrate this with an example, "when" and so on are said. Just as when one acknowledges the existence of the self-nature of the four great elements characterized by earth and so on, just as at that time the basis of his form of view is the same, he possesses a body, and there is a perverted view, so it is here as well. The meaning here is that in the situation of recognizing the self-nature of the four great elements, one possesses a body that is the same as the basis of wrong views, and it is not born from oneself, nor from others.
