Just by planting a seed, one says, "This was produced by my son." And so on. In reality, the refutation of self-origination is: "That does not arise from it, there is no merit whatsoever." And so on. In reality, the refutation of other-origination is: "If another arises dependent on another," and so on. In order to show that, it is said, "This is not from the world, nor is it from that itself." In order to show the additional faults in what was previously shown, it is said, "What was said before," and so on. The "also" mentioned here refers to the "also" shown in the context of refuting origination from both. In order to show that, it is said, "For example," and so on. If each produces, and so on. It is said, "There is no establishment of origination from each." Because if it were from self-origination and other-origination, then at that time it would become origination from both, but that is not the case, therefore there is no origination from both. In order to show that through explanation, it is said, "For example," and so on. If each produces, and so on, refers to either oneself or another. "Many such possessors of nature" refers to many possessors of the ability to produce. Therefore, and so on, is the conclusion of refuting origination from both. Now, in order to refute the view that things arise from no cause, it is said, "Here, the proponents of nature are," and so on. "If it becomes those faults" refers to the faults stated for the proponents who believe in origination from self, other, or both. "The origination of things is solely from nature" means that things do not rely on causes, but arise from their own essence. In order to show in detail origination from nature, it is said, "For example, the lotus," and so on. "Some" refers to the cause. "Rough and smooth" refers to the stems being rough and the petals being smooth. "Its petals and," and so on.
