It is said that it is included in all the sutras. Therefore, the phrases such as "If that is the case" are to indicate that the sutras quoted by the Mind-Only proponents are all in need of interpretation, and this is to indicate the conclusion. The so-called "sutras of that kind" include, for example, "The three realms are only mind" and "External appearances are completely non-existent," and so on. The phrase "all that is accepted as definitive meaning" refers to what is accepted as having the meaning of ultimate truth. The phrase "merely of interpretable meaning" means that it is not taught in the way of ultimate truth. The phrase "this sutra" refers to, for example, "observing the manner in which dependent arising arises from the law," and so on. In this way, after explaining those sutras such as "The three realms are only mind" as merely of interpretable meaning from the perspective of other sutras, in order to explain them as merely of interpretable meaning from the perspective of reasoning, the phrase "by reasoning" and so on is spoken. The phrase "if there is no object of knowledge" means if the object of knowledge is not reasonable. The phrase "eliminating the knower" means that the knower does not exist. The phrase "easily attained" means easily understood. The intention here is: whatever is said to be Mind-Only is not for the purpose of establishing its existence in ultimate truth, but rather to make it easy to understand the non-existence of the knower expressed in the statement, "If there is no object of knowledge, how can there be a knower?" In this way, because the existence of the knower cannot be established by reasoning, it is said that teaching the existence of the knower is only of interpretable meaning. In order to clarify this through explanation, the phrase "Buddha" and so on is spoken. The phrase "gradually" means through the means of negating self and so on, otherwise, people would not enter for fear of emptiness. In order to illustrate this, the phrase "regarding this" and so on is spoken. The phrase "because it is a method of entering the nature of reality" means that it is a method of understanding that the merits done through entering into discipline and so on without relying on enjoyment are without inherent existence. Negating the object of knowledge is a method of realizing the selflessness of the knower, and in order to show easy entry, the phrase "object of knowledge is without inherent nature" and so on is spoken. Furthermore, similarly, it refers to teaching that mind exists.
