One should gather nests and the like. The word "etc." in "feathers, etc." should include various things such as wings. "Born from non-shared karma" means that peacocks and the like, by their previous non-shared karma, produce results only from their own causes, that is, from the karma they have done, and there is no other. "Born from the shared karma of all sentient beings" means that because it is the cause of all joy, it should be approached. Similarly, one should also understand others, that is, the various appearances of beings such as beauty and ugliness are born from non-shared karma. The various appearances of land and the like, such as dryness and moisture, are born from shared karma. "As it is said" and so on, refers to showing the source of what is born from shared karma. "Born in season" means that it arises from the difference of seasons. "Black" refers to mountains. "Mind-hell" and so on, hell refers to weapons such as knife-leaf forests, and the heavenly realm refers to precious trees such as joyful gardens, which are born from the karma of sentient beings. Through the word "etc.", one should include rotten mud, and not jumping when putting down and lifting the foot. "All beings" refers to those included by sentient beings and the container world. "Karma also depends on the mind" means that karma is of the nature of the mind that thinks "I should do this." Because the mind is also in accordance with the mind, karma depends on the mind. In order to show this, it is said "in accordance with the mind" and so on. "By karma, etc." refers to the body and speech karma, etc., of the nature of good and non-good created by the mind. "Because there is no karma" means that there is no karma of the nature of mind and karma created by mind. "Therefore" means that without mind there is no karma. "Not other" means that it is not form, that is the meaning. In order to show this,

English

It is said, "Returning," and so on. Among them, "that" refers to form. "Therefore" means that form cannot be the agent. "An agent other than the mind" refers to agents other than the mind, such as the Pradhana. "Form is not negated" means that the statement "the three realms are only mind" does not negate form; this is its synonym. In order to explain it with commentary, it is said, "Here," and so on. "Here" refers to the situation of the agent. "Some" refers to the Samkhyas, etc. The word "Pradhana, etc." includes Ishvara, etc. "Some consider it to be the mind" refers to the Vaisheshikas, etc. "There is no dispute that form is not the agent" because form is inanimate, so neither side accepts it as the agent. "Having its characteristics" refers to the characteristics of the Pradhana, etc. "The object of the place of dispute" refers to the Pradhana, etc. "Past, etc." means that the agent itself abandons the Pradhana, etc., and only abides in the mind. In order to illustrate this with an example, it is said, "Regarding one place," and so on. "Wanting to rule one place" means wanting to become the king of one place. "Expelling one enemy" means driving out other kings. "Gaining one's own territory" means gaining the throne in one's own territory. Similarly, from saying that the mind and the Pradhana, etc., are the agent, to denying that the Pradhana, etc., are the agent, and only the mind abides as the agent. In "needed by both," etc., because arrows, etc., are needed by both kings, neither king will harm them. In order to explain the meaning, it is said, "Similarly," and so on. "Needed by both" refers to those who consider the mind to be the agent and those who consider the Pradhana, etc., to be the agent. In order to show the conclusion that form exists, it is said, "Therefore," and so on. As it is said

English

The phrase "in the manner shown" means that the term "Mind-Only" is used solely to negate the agent, such as the lord, but not to negate form, in this way. The phrase "all five exist" refers to form, feeling, and so on. The phrase "the reality of the world" refers to conventional truth. The phrase "when one desires that reality to arise as wisdom" refers to the arising of non-conceptual wisdom. The phrase "does not arise and does not change" means that for them, no nature, whether it is existence or non-existence, appears at all. With "because of what," etc., the Madhyamikas give instruction to the Mind-Only followers, that is, because of what it is like that, therefore, "because of what" means because the five aggregates exist in conventional truth. The phrase "if there is no form, then do not grasp the existence of mind" means that if there is no object, then there is no subject. The phrase "even if there is mind, do not grasp the non-existence of form" means that if form is not reasonable, then the existence of mind itself is also not reasonable. If it contradicts reason, but considering worldly people, one admits that mind exists, then one must also admit that form exists. In order to explain it with commentary, "when" etc. are said. The phrase "reasonable" is explained by "not arising from oneself" etc. It should be understood in this way, that in conventional truth both exist, and in ultimate truth, neither arises. The phrase "wisdom's way in brief" refers to the Prajnaparamita Sutra. The phrase "similar" means at the same time. The phrase "abandoning" means negating. The phrase "spoken from the Abhidharma" means that it is spoken as existing from the Abhidharma. The phrase "in the way of well distinguishing self-characteristics and common characteristics, etc." means that the self-characteristic is that it can become form, so it is called form, etc., and the common characteristic is impermanence, etc. The word "etc." refers to including realms, destinies, birthplaces, etc. The phrase "not negated" means that neither has self-nature birth. In order to explain that, "Subhuti" etc. are said. The phrase "with scripture and reasoning" refers to the way previously shown.
