I say, the first word "mind" means to express thought. The second means to express existence itself. The third means to express the person. The meaning of the intermediate phrase "collection of words that are not manifest" is that the word "certainty" is a word that is not manifest. The meaning of the Sutra explains that it is the characteristic of the mind's agent. This meaning itself is the characteristic of the mind's agent. Therefore, and so on, is because after blocking myself and others, only the mind is the agent. Those with wisdom are the Bodhisattvas. Wisdom is for the sake of growth, which means for the sake of increasing wisdom. "Destroying the high mountain of heretics" means that the heretics themselves are a high mountain, and destroying it is like hail destroying a mountain. The Vajra of the Blessed One's speech destroys the high mountain of heretics. From where was it said? The *Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra* and others said that in order to cut off existence, it is for the sake of negating the existence of persons and so on. This refers to persons and so on. A person is one who abandons this aggregate and takes another aggregate. The Sautrāntikas and others say that such a person exists. Continuity refers to the continuity of mind. Aggregates refer to form, feeling, and so on. Condition refers to the four conditions, such as cause. Atoms refer to those that appear in the shape of blue and so on. Pradhāna refers to the nature that will be explained later. Īśvara refers to the one who emanates all beings. Therefore, the word agent is mentioned. The word agent should be used with all words. I say it is only mind. Because there is no other agent. Therefore, in other sutras as well, because other agents are blocked, the purity of mind-only and so on is that other agents are blocked, but it is not blocking external objects.

Oṃ. The phrase "in order to explain this meaning" is said by the author of the treatise himself. The phrase "from that" refers to the Vaibhāṣika and the scriptures of the Tīrthikas, and so on. The phrase "those" refers to persons, and so on. The phrase "exactly as it is by oneself" refers to following the tenets of a school. The phrase "those" refers to persons, and so on. Those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, did not see them as agents, but said that the agent of the world is mind-only. There, persons and the chief one will be refuted later. Continuity, because it is different from the mind and invisible, is only of the nature of mind. The aggregates of form, because they are invisible without consciousness, are only of the nature of mind. The others are included in the category of arising from the mind. Non-associated formations are merely imputed. Even the conditions are only mind, because by its power, the establishment of virtuous and non-virtuous actions is made. Even the atoms, if analyzed by divisions of directions, are shown to be only mind as the agent, because it is not reasonable. This is the concluding statement. Here, the ultimate mind is not the agent, but in order to abandon the manifest clinging to persons, and so on, it is said in that way. Otherwise, because of "not from self," and so on, even the mind is not established, so how could it be said? "Of the Tīrthikas" is said with regard to the majority, and mostly they teach persons, and so on. Otherwise, even the Vaibhāṣikas accept persons as the agent, so how could it be said "of the Tīrthikas"? For that very reason, it is said, "This Dharma, even I," and so on. In one way, it is to be shown that the Vaibhāṣikas and the Tīrthikas are the same, so they are also Tīrthikas. Because the meaning is not understood without distortion, it is said, "Because the meaning is not understood without distortion," because persons, and so on, are not established by reason, and not understanding that it is taught as provisional meaning, they are established as ultimately real. Only the pervasive agent.

The reason for saying this is that these schools are the same as the heretics. The meaning of "definitely teaching this" is expressed by the word "heretics." The meaning of "as it is said" comes from the 'King's Admonition Jewel Garland.' "Speaking of person and aggregates," etc., is to show that this is the dharma that is uncommon with all that has characteristics. Among them, the Samkhya school is the one who recites the treatises of Samkhya. "Son of the Owl" refers to the disciple of the owl, that is, the Vaisheshika. "Speaking of person and aggregates" refers to those who speak of person and aggregates, that is, the Sarvastivadins, etc. Ask them and the worldly people, is the Suchness that transcends existence and non-existence, and is free from the two extremes, existent or non-existent, will they say it? They will not say it. If the Samkhya school, etc., why don't they say it? Because the Samkhya school temporarily admits that the self and nature exist, and admits that the earth, etc., exist until the great kalpa. Therefore, they admit that they are worldly people. The son of the owl also admits that the pot, etc., formed by the order of one or two atoms, etc., are existent or non-existent. The naked sect also admits that everything is the nature of everything, and that everything is not the nature of everything. Similarly, they also admit that life exists, while others do not exist. The people who speak of person and aggregates admit that person and aggregates, etc., exist, and that the past and future do not exist. In this way, thinking that what transcends existence and non-existence does not exist, and then asking. The meaning of "therefore" is with the reason just mentioned. "Transcending existence and non-existence" means transcending the extremes of existence and non-existence. "Immortal" means that Nirvana is immortal. Because this is the method to obtain Nirvana, this teaching is called "immortal." "Profound" is because the heretics cannot understand it. "Teaching" refers to what should be taken and what should be abandoned.
