If one does not understand the phrase "the ground has been laid with beryl," it is like not understanding the meaning of the sutras. The phrase "wanting to pour in a little water of the truly existent consciousness" is like mistaking the laid beryl ground for water and wanting to pour in water, which happens. Similarly, for the sutras, for those who speak of only mind, because they want to pour consciousness as truly existent water, that is why it happens. The phrase "rinsing and stirring one's own wisdom's earth vase" means that the only-mind school's own wisdom's earth vase has not been emptied, because wisdom has not fully matured. That is why it is rinsed and stirred. For example, it is like someone stirring an unemptied vase that has laid a beryl ground in order to pour in water. The phrase "reading it in a hundred pieces" means that because the laid ground is hard, even if the vase is not emptied, stirring it may turn into a hundred pieces. Similarly, if the only-mind school uses its own wisdom to stir the laid ground of the sutras in order to pour in the truly existent water of consciousness, it will become reading it in a hundred pieces because it is unreasonable. The so-called "nature" is the nature of the only-mind school. The so-called "those who know its nature" refers to those who know the nature of the ground laid by the Indranila Sutra. The so-called "the intention of the sutra is," etc., means that in the sutra "the three realms are only mind," there exists only-mind that prevents external objects, and if it is understood in this way, it is the intention. Asking about the difference in intention is: Again, what is the meaning of the sutra here? In order to answer this question, it is said "therefore explained," etc. The so-called "manifest" etc., refers to the bodhisattva manifesting, tending to manifest, the three existences, the three realms are only mind, because it is understood in this way, it is the intention. The intention here is: the bodhisattva understands that the author is only mind, how is it understood? It is to prevent the permanent self as the author.

It is said, "For the sake of realization." This means that it refutes the other's belief that the self is permanent and the agent of good and non-good, and realizes that the nature of mind itself is the agent. The meaning of this is that the statement "The three realms are only mind" does not focus on refuting external objects. However, it refutes that the self and others are agents, thus showing that only mind is the agent. How is it known that only mind is the agent? To show the answer to this, because it is said in the sutra, "Why is it?" etc. The so-called "aspect of worldly occurrence" refers to the way that ignorance is the condition for action, and action is the condition for consciousness, and so on. The so-called "heap of suffering" refers to the collection of suffering. The so-called "tree of suffering" refers to the repeated production of the fruit of suffering. The so-called "without agent and experiencer" means that in this heap of suffering, there is no agent such as the self for good and non-good actions, and like Ishvara and others, there is no experiencer of good and non-good. The so-called "that" refers to the one who understands dependent origination separately. The so-called "because of the manifest clinging to the agent, actions will exist" means that if there is some agent such as the self, then at that time, the action will arise depending on it, because all actions depend on the agent. For this very reason, it is said, "Where" etc. The so-called "this is only mind" refers to being separated from the agent and the experiencer. The so-called "separate" refers to separating by the difference of realms and beings. Therefore, in order to show that this sutra, by refuting the other agent, explains the conclusion that only mind is the agent, it is said, "Therefore, thus" etc. The so-called "in conventional truth" refers only to the dependent origination of "this exists, then this arises," which is pleasing without investigation. In order to show the definition of Bodhisattva, it is said, "Bodhi" etc.
