Therefore, in order to establish that consciousness has the nature of grasping, it is said, "Here it is said," and so on. If it is said that other consciousnesses do not grasp other consciousnesses, but that their own nature is self-awareness, therefore other-dependence is established. In order to answer this, it is said, "That also," and so on. "That also" means that only self-awareness can grasp. "That itself" means by the nature of other-dependence. "That" refers to other-dependence. It is said that "it is not established" because self-awareness is the experience of one's own nature, and it is not reasonable for the agent and the object to be the same, so it is not logical. In order to explain this with commentary, it is said, "Therefore," and so on. In order to explain the previous view of other schools, it is said, "Here, some people," and so on. "One's own nature" refers to the nature of fire. "Entering with light" means through the way the rays of fire enter. "Sound also" means that when the sound of a pot arises, it causes the arising of consciousness focused on the sound of the pot, and the arising of consciousness focused on the meaning of the pot, just like that. Having shown the example in this way, in order to explain the meaning, it is said, "Consciousness also," and so on. "One's own nature" refers to the nature of consciousness. If you do not accept self-awareness, then why do you accept that fire also illuminates itself? "Therefore," and so on, is the conclusion. Having shown that self-awareness is established through example, in order to establish self-awareness through the sign of the fruit of remembrance, it is said, "Even those who do not accept," and so on. "Otherwise" means if you do not accept self-awareness. "I saw," and so on, with the remembrance that arises later, it will not become the object of remembrance, this is what is to be explained, and the explanation of this is the saying of "I saw," and so on. The meaning here is that "I saw" is the remembrance of the object distinguished by seeing, and remembrance is also the remembrance of what has been experienced, not of what has not been experienced. Therefore, seeing is also established through experience, so self-awareness is established.

It means "No." To explain the reason for this, it is said, "Why is that?" etc. According to the Madhyamaka school, in order to show that there is actually no proof for consciousness, it is said, "Because there is no self-awareness," etc. Here, if one wants to experience consciousness, is it experienced by consciousness itself, or by another consciousness? In this regard, it is not self-awareness, because in your school there is no self-awareness. Refuting the experience of consciousness by another consciousness, it is said, "Another consciousness," etc. To explain the reason for this, it is said, "If another consciousness experiences," etc. The so-called "it will become endless" means that if the first moment of blue consciousness is experienced by another consciousness, then that consciousness is also another, so it will become endless. To explain this in detail, it is said, "For example," etc. On the basis of experiencing consciousness with another consciousness, after stating the fault of becoming endless, in order to explain other faults, it is said, "Consciousness, other objects," etc. It should be connected with the previous words, saying "it will become a fault," that is, for blue, other objects, yellow, etc., will become impossible to completely cut off. To explain the reason for this, it is said, "The continuum of consciousness," etc. The object of the first moment of blue consciousness is blue itself, and the object of other moments of consciousness is the previous consciousness. If two consciousnesses arise simultaneously, one consciousness completely cuts off other objects, and the second consciousness completely cuts off consciousness, if you think so. To answer this question, it is said, "Because sentient beings are one continuum of consciousness," etc. Because sentient beings are one continuum of consciousness, two consciousnesses will not arise simultaneously. If one enters a dancer's room, etc., one sees consciousness arising simultaneously, for example, immediately upon entering there, there arises the eye consciousness focused on the dancer's face, and the ear consciousness focused on the sound of the flute, etc.
