Therefore, if you do not have knowledge, phenomena will not be established, so what you say that knowledge is established through self-awareness is unreasonable. Because if there is no object, it is impossible to appear as an object, so the external object is also established, how can it be established only as mind-only? If it is said that in a dream, even if there is no object, it can establish an object through the way it appears as an object, then, to this, the teacher himself would answer with "Where is the mind without an external object?" etc., so I will not repeat the answer. Therefore, if you want to establish it through experience, then both must be acknowledged through experience. If you do not want that, then neither can be established through experience. Because you have no harmer. What you say is also unreasonable, because what would harm the blue that appears as an external object? Is it knowledge itself? Or what else would harm it? For the time being, the blue knowledge itself is not a harmer, because that itself is unreasonable, because it is not an experience. Other knowledge is also not a harmer, because it does not exist at that time. Therefore, because external objects have an establisher and no harmer, it is necessary to acknowledge external objects just as you acknowledge the mind. Or neither is, this "this" refers to, because there are no external objects, so it is from the difference of the habits imprinted on the alaya consciousness that the knowledge that appears as an object arises. What is said is the view of the mind-only school. Like a dream, it refers to just as in a dream there are no external objects, but knowledge that appears as an object arises, so too in the waking state. In order to show it through its explanation, he said "room" etc. The room is very small, sleeping inside, refers to sleeping in a very small room. Slightly asleep, refers to it is impossible to dream in a state of deep sleep, so he said slightly asleep. Dreaming of a herd of drunken elephants, refers to it does not exist in any way, in order to show the extreme impossibility, so he said dreaming of a herd of drunken elephants.

Therefore, even if there is no external object in a dream, it is established that there is consciousness. The term "to this" refers to the nature of believing that consciousness can arise even without meaning. The term "without essence" refers to unreasonableness. The term "that should be considered" refers to the fact that there is meaningless consciousness in a dream, and that should also be considered. Furthermore, the question "What is that?" means: What should be considered? Etc., which means that no matter when the Madhyamaka school, if there is no mind even in a dream, then the metaphor of the dream is not established, this is a summary statement. In order to show this, it is said, "At that time, is your metaphor not there?" This is to say, Mind-Only school, your metaphor is not established. In order to show it by commentary, it is said, "Like a cow" and so on. The term "like an object" means like the meaning of an external object. The term "because it is unborn" means that because it is prevented from arising by "not arising from itself" and so on. The term "metaphor established from both" refers to what is established for both the Mind-Only school and the Madhyamaka school. In order to welcome the doubts of the Mind-Only school, it is said, "If in a dream" and so on. The thought of others is that when waking up, there will be memories of dreams, and if they are not experienced, memories will not exist, so experience and consciousness are different kinds, so there must be consciousness in dreams. In order to answer this, it is said, "This is also unreasonable" and so on. If, when waking up, one admits that there is consciousness in the dream state through memory, then the external object will also change in the same way. It is said, "External objects should also be the same," which means that just as experiencing is remembering, things are also remembered, why not admit that things also exist in dreams? Why? It means that just like experience, external objects do not exist either, why? In order to answer this question, it is said, "How" and so on. Just as there is a memory of "I saw it" for experience, one should also admit the external object.
