That seeing of suchness, abiding in wisdom, will attain cessation. In order to eliminate the aforementioned establishment, "without grasping" and so on were proclaimed. A bodhisattva abiding on the sixth ground, the three existences, that is, the three realms, are only consciousness, not that external objects exist, thus knowing. It should be connected in this way. What kind of bodhisattva? "Abiding in wisdom" was proclaimed, that is, abiding in the practice of the Perfection of Wisdom. And how is it again? "Only consciousness, that nature is known" was proclaimed. That is, knowing that the grasper and the grasped, which are taken by the mind of other-power, are the nature of emptiness. It is a synonym for knowing only mind and mental factors that are free from grasper and grasped. And how is it known? "Without grasping, the grasper is not seen" was proclaimed. Because there is no object to be grasped, therefore the knowing consciousness itself does not see the characteristic of realizing a different entity, but understands that it is only self-illuminating, which is a synonym. The meaning of this is that the Mind-Only school thinks that one cannot slander consciousness, because without consciousness, appearance is not established. Therefore, through the door of appearance, which has become the nature of consciousness, consciousness itself is established. And there is no harm, because for the consciousness that is to be harmed, does the consciousness itself harm it, or does another harm it? Among them, the first case is unreasonable, because the consciousness of the appearance of two moons itself cannot harm itself, because it is personally experienced. Other consciousnesses also cannot harm, because what has ceased through personal experience cannot be harmed, for example, when the consciousness of a pot ceases, the consciousness of cloth cannot harm it, because it is personally experienced in its own time, and it is not established in the time of the consciousness of cloth. Therefore, because there is an establisher and there is no harmer, consciousness itself exists. However, for it, children, because of the power of the habitual tendencies of beginningless ignorance, completely know that the distinctions of grasper and grasped do not exist, therefore it is the ground of a bodhisattva.

This means that Bodhisattvas can manifest the nature of things as mind-only. In order to explain this through commentary, it is said that the word "place" and so on are easy to understand. What is called "its reality" is emptiness, which is free from the grasped and the grasper. What is called "mind-only" means realizing emptiness in mind-only. In order to reveal its meaning by explaining the reason for realizing mind-only, it is said "formless" and so on. What is called "merely dependent arising things" refers to other-powered nature. In order to explain by explaining the reason of the root sentence, it is said again "how" and so on. What is called "with the reasoning that will be explained" refers to "like the wind" and so on. What is called "in this order" refers to the way previously shown as "not seeing the grasper without the grasped." Now, in order to prove the arising of mind-only in the manner of without the grasped, the previous view is first put forward, saying "if" and so on. In order to answer this, it is said "say" and so on. What is called "as driven by the wind" means that the branch of water is moved by the wind. Similarly, from the Alaya consciousness, mind-only, that is, the entering consciousness and so on will arise. If asked what the Alaya consciousness is like, it is said "all seeds," which is the cause of all consciousness. What is called "self-power" refers to the self-power of the Alaya consciousness. Among them, the self-nature of the Alaya consciousness is to obtain the habitual tendencies of all pervasive afflictive dharmas, and to become the cause of arising through completely holding the seeds. The meaning of this is that together with the pervasive afflictive side, desire and so on, arising and ceasing, after repeatedly experiencing, those that are going to arise through completely holding the seeds are the cause of arising. That is also through the way of completely holding the seeds, where completely holding the seeds is what arises and ceases together with arising.
