It is because of appearance. Therefore, it is merely conventional truth. It is said that the establishment of mere conventional truth is shown by the power of ignorance with afflictions, which is to show the conclusion. Thus, it is said, "For a while," and so on. What is called "completely gathered by the limbs of existence" is that whatever is said about the twelve limbs of existence through the means of "actions are due to ignorance," etc., is that from within ignorance, the establishment of conventional truth is made through the means of what is said about ignorance with afflictions in the limbs of existence. Now, in order to show the establishment of mere conventional truth by taking into account the non-afflictive ignorance that has not become a limb of existence. Moreover, it is said, "Listeners," and so on. What is called "moreover" refers to form, feeling, and so on. What is called "abandoning ignorance with afflictions" is because there is no ignorance that has become the cause of samsara. Moreover, they see all formations as similar to reflections and so on. Just as worldly people do not truly cling to the existence of reflections and so on, but consider them to be false, similarly, they also see formations such as form and feeling that are similar to them. For that very reason, because there is no clinging to "I" and "mine," they do not cause the arising of the aggregates of afflictions such as desire, and because they are not the cause of samsara, they are called non-afflictive ignorance. "It is of the nature of deception," which means that it is dependent arising. What is called "not true" is that because it is recognized as false, it is merely conventional truth, not true, which is the concluding statement. In order to establish that it is merely conventional truth. It is said, "For children," and so on. If it is merely conventional truth, then how do children become attached to truth? It is said, "Because it is deceptive for children," and so on. Because this conventional truth deceives children, causing them to cling to what is not true as true, therefore, ultimately

Because that is not true. Because the previously stated forms, causes and effects are unreasonable. Therefore, for children, this is merely conventional truth. For others, it becomes merely conventional truth. In order to demonstrate that point, it is said, "Different from that," and so on. "Different from that" refers to the fact that for Śrāvakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Bodhisattvas, it appears as dependent arising, like illusions, and therefore becomes merely conventional truth. If afflictive ignorance is reversed, then how will dependent arisings, like illusions, appear at that time? The answer to that is, it is said, "That is also knowable," and so on. "That also" refers to whatever appears as dependent arising, like illusions. It is said, "Merely acting on ignorance, which is the nature of the obscuration of the knowable," refers to the fact that suchness, which is free from existence and non-existence, is the knowable, and its obscuration is what makes it not appear. It merely acts on the ignorance that has that nature. The meaning here is: there are two types of ignorance, namely afflictive and non-afflictive. Among them, afflictive ignorance is not understanding, and through generating the manifest clinging of "this is me and mine," it becomes the cause of samsara. Non-afflictive ignorance is that which is merely the cause of appearances such as form, but not the cause of manifest clinging to truth. Because there is no clinging to truth, it does not generate afflictions such as desire, and therefore it is called non-afflictive. Therefore, because it merely acts on non-afflictive ignorance, for Śrāvakas and others, like illusions, dependent arisings appear as merely conventional truth. Being called "those who have an object of experience with appearance" refers to those who experience knowledge with forms such as blue. Being called "those who possess an object of experience without appearance" refers to the Buddhas who do not possess the experience of knowledge with forms such as blue.
