Moreover, in order to show the distinctions made in relation to the noble ones, therefore, it is said, "Therefore, by this," and so on. Connect "Ignorance is conventional truth." Why is that? Because it is said, "Because of obscuration." Because by the power of ignorance, it makes the suchness that is apart from existence and non-existence, etc., not appear, and clings to that which has no self-nature as existence and non-existence, etc. It is done by the conventional truth that is the nature of ignorance. What is called "artificial" refers to any phenomenon that arises dependently. What is called "appearing as true" refers to clinging to it as a true nature. What is called "that" refers to the phenomenon that is clung to as a true nature. "Conventional truth" is what the Sage said, which means that the Bhagavan said that the phenomenon is conventional truth because worldly people cling to it in that way. What is called "the phenomenon that has become artificial is conventional" refers to whatever arises dependently in the conventional, such as images and echoes, etc., by the ignorance of afflictions, and similarly, whatever appears to the noble ones who have the object of experience with appearance, the aggregates of non-afflicted ignorance, etc., which have the nature of the obscuration of knowledge, the Sage said that is conventional, but it is not conventional truth, because how do worldly people and noble ones reasonably not cling to those as true? Therefore, that is merely conventional, but not conventional truth. The meaning here is that there are two kinds of conventional distinctions: conventional truth and merely conventional. There are also two kinds of merely conventional: conventional in relation to worldly people and conventional in relation to noble ones. Among them, merely conventional in relation to worldly people is like echoes, etc. Merely conventional in relation to noble ones refers to whatever appears to the noble ones who have appearance. In order to show that, the commentary said, "For that, by this," and so on. What is called "for that" refers to speaking of ignorance, etc., in the verses. What is called "the view of how the phenomenon abides" refers to

This is about seeing the reality of emptiness. The term "things" refers to the act of clinging to things that do not inherently exist as if they do. For example, clinging to things like permanence, impermanence, happiness, and suffering as if they possess their own inherent nature. The phrase "the nature that obscures the seeing of self-nature" refers to the self-nature that is free from concepts like existence and non-existence, which is Suchness. It obscures the seeing of Suchness through non-conceptual yoga. This means that if ignorance is present, one cannot realize Suchness. The term "by conventional truth" refers to the ignorance of afflictive obscurations. The phrase "appearing as true" means that it makes what is without inherent existence appear as existent, and makes impermanence and other qualities appear as permanent. The phrase "the world is inverted" means inverted by the obscuration of ignorance. The phrase "true in conventional truth" means that it is the truth of ignorance, not the truth of ultimate reality. The term "that" refers to the conventional truth of the world. In order to show that it appears inverted to worldly people, and that ultimate truth is not conventional truth, it is said, "Images and so on arising in dependence." Here, form, feeling, perception, etc., are mentioned, and the word "etc." includes formations and so on. The term "self-nature" refers to Suchness, which is free from concepts like existence and non-existence. The phrase "associated with ignorance" refers to those who are associated with ignorance, both with and without afflictive obscurations. The phrase "not appearing" means that it is because there is an obstructive, pervasive delusion. The phrase "not being conventional truth" means that the self-nature is neither conventional nor conventional truth, because it is obscured by the power of ignorance and does not appear. The phrase "whatever is false even in convention" means that images and echoes, etc., do not become conventional truth because there is no clinging to them as real. Nor is it ultimate truth, because it is dominated by ignorance.
