It is not so. What proves this is that whatever object of observation that gives rise to conceptual thought, it itself is not truly existent. If the object of observation is not truly existent, then if conceptual thought becomes the nature of reality, then it does not exist anywhere. For what reason is it so? Therefore, it is said, "Therefore, the object of observation and the observer," both of these are also emptiness, meaning that just as attachment is not its nature. To this, another reason is shown, which is to say, "Because it is born from conditions," and so on. The intention here is this: Although any conceptual thought that is not related to things is not the nature of things, but for those that rely on things through inference and other conceptual thoughts, or for those objects that need to be distinguished, how can they not be truly existent? For those who think like this, this reason is to show closeness. This shows the meaning that whatever arises through inference and other conceptual thoughts, and is therefore considered to be an object that needs to be distinguished, and inference and other conceptual thoughts, both of these are also because they are born from conditions. Just as illusions and the like that arise depending on causes such as seeds, because they do not have a true nature, they are emptiness. In this way, through the word "knowing," it also includes self-generated conceptual thought, therefore, even if it does not depend on external things, it is also because it arises depending on direct causes, so it should be understood as emptiness. The difference here is only that: before, the object to be distinguished and conceptual thought were to clarify the true nature through the wishes of others, but now it is to clarify through one's own wishes. Therefore, those who believe that form and so on are truly existent, just by analyzing these things through their own treatises, can discover their unreasonable nature, let alone the view of the Madhyamaka school? Now, for those who are controlled by the demons of clinging to real things, use emptiness to...

Because this passage shows that it is in accordance with the liberation one desires to attain, it is to show that one must undoubtedly commit to it, hence the phrase "for the sake of correct realization," and so forth. Whenever, in this way, one thoroughly examines the suchness of forms and so on, and from that arises the transcendental, non-conceptual wisdom that realizes and manifests the characteristic of selflessness of suchness, thereby comprehending it. At that time, it is for the sake of correct realization. Therefore, ignorance does not exist and will not arise, because it arises from the four inversions. When suchness is seen, those four inversions disappear like darkness when the sun rises. This is what he thought. Because those that rely on the body, feelings, mind, and phenomena, those that cling to the aspects of permanence, pleasure, self, and purity, arise in order, are considered to be the cause of ignorance. And those such as the body are also empty of self-nature by the reasoning shown above. Those that are empty of self-nature should not be considered permanent or impermanent. If there were truly permanence and impermanence, how could it be so? Thus it is shown. Therefore, since there is no basis, the inversions do not arise, and if the inversions do not arise, ignorance does not arise, this is what is to be expressed. Because that does not exist, if ignorance does not arise, then actions, that is, the divisions of meritorious, non-meritorious, and unwavering actions, will not arise, that is, they will not be born. Similarly, as shown immediately before, because the cause does not arise, so in the order of the effect not arising, the remainder, that is, the twelve links of dependent origination that arise in dependence on the body, from consciousness to old age and death, should be known to be of a nature that does not arise. Regarding this, the Noble One shows with half a verse that is extremely famous to others, that is, "whatever" and so on, whatever is the fruit that one desires to manifest, relies on the thing that one desires as the cause, that is, arises in dependence, that is, the fruit that one desires to appear, arises from that, that is, the thing that one desires to manifest as the cause, truly arises on that, then as the cause
