Therefore, based on the realization of the essence of Suchness, just as with the illusion of phenomena that arise, one also comprehends that the aspects of falsity are not aspects of falsity, but rather the true nature itself. In order to show this to all sentient beings, the Teacher spoke of ignorance, which indicates that this great mass of suffering is the very cause of conventional truth. Because ignorance itself possesses the various parts of the twelve branches, these twelve branches are the root of samsara. Whenever one hears, contemplates, and meditates on this Great Vehicle that clearly reveals that all phenomena are without inherent existence, through the wisdom of gathering and combining the path, one can ascertain that these things themselves are empty, devoid of inherent nature, and thus realize without doubt. At that time, if one can realize in this way, then immediately following that, the authentic path of seeing, which attains the Joyful Ground, will arise, which is completely different from the previously mentioned ignorance characterized by specific traits. That which does not arise is the cessation of ignorance. And from the cessation of ignorance itself, the cycle of the twelve branches also ceases, and it does not even arise in conventional truth. The sutra says: 'Things' should be understood as a singular term in terms of category. Otherwise, if things are shown as many as before, then if one grasps only one thing that is clearly stated in the sutra, it will lead to the fault of being inconsistent with the current situation. Therefore, in this way, if through the entry of things, all phenomena are peaceful from the very beginning, but also considering the special realization of the realizers, because dependent on dependent arising, it is shown that there is a sequence of arising and ceasing, so in conventional truth, there are things to be abandoned and things to be accepted, there is a distinction between samsara and nirvana, therefore, abandoning and accepting also become reasons, and because it does not contradict conventional truth, the teachings of the Blessed One are fruitful. This is the way it is. This is also reasonable, because although things are truly free from arising and ceasing, they do arise in conventional truth.

It is to show that there is arising and ceasing. "Gandharva city," etc., are mentioned. Because Gandharva cities, etc., are not truly arising or ceasing, even so, by virtue of obtaining the aggregates, they appear in the world as having the characteristics of arising and ceasing, but in reality they are not, just like all compounded things. In order to clarify this similar reason, "There is no entity here," etc., are mentioned. Because Gandharva cities, etc., in this, the entity, that is, arising, and the non-entity, that is, cessation, essentially, in the ultimate truth, do not exist at all, because they are dependently arisen. Therefore, it should be understood that the nature of any compounded thing is also emptiness, because they are dependently arisen, and are free from true arising and ceasing. In order to summarize this meaning and eliminate contradictions with other vehicles, two noble ones are mentioned: "All things are empty by nature." Therefore, "Because of this thing" should be drawn from the heart. Because all compounded things are similar to Gandharva cities, etc., therefore, all things are empty by nature, are quiescent by nature, even if they exist, the perfectly enlightened Bhagavan Tathagata, the incomparable one, surpassing all teachers, with the dependent arising of things, that is, arising dependent on causes and conditions, etc., thus speaks, indicating with such a nature, just like the arising of Gandharva cities, etc., is false, is the meaning of conventional truth. Then, how is this shown as true in other vehicles? Although the showing is true, there is no contradiction at all by that alone. Because the excellent transcendent one, having obtained purity from the following of non-discrimination, the meaning of the wisdom of the worldly yogi, that is, the object, is exhausted in this arising, and by this alone, it is cut off like illusion, etc.

English

It means that the appearance of falsehood is completely cut off. The term 'worldly convention' refers to the beings of each world. For those sentient beings who have not entered the path of the noble ones, the common convention is threefold, distinguished by mind, speech, and body. It relies on the nature of knowing, speaking, and acting. Wanting to follow it, in order to lead it into the ultimate truth, after making a commitment, with pure wisdom that is free from attachment and obstruction, all aspects of all dharmas are taken into the heart. This is called the All-Knowing Bhagavan Buddha, who has truly analyzed all things, that is, the collection of all meanings, and expressed and explained them in detail with language. That is its meaning. Therefore, considering the difference between the conventions of noble ones and non-noble ones, the teachings of the Sugata are completely free from contradictions in meaning. This is its basis. Therefore, the Bhagavan thus teaches all dharmas. For those who are afraid of the faultless teachings, it is precisely because they do not understand its intention that they are afraid. Therefore, it is said, 'The nature of worldly dharmas does not perish,' and so on. Because the teachings are given in reliance on the two truths, the conventional truth and the ultimate truth, the teachings of worldly dharmas do not perish, because the arising and ceasing of the conventional are not abandoned. Similarly, in the ultimate truth, teaching the Dharma does not change anything, because no entity of Dharma is left, that is, there is no fabrication. Therefore, this stainless Dharma is extremely pure because it is free from the faults of addition and defamation, and in order to make people understand the extremely profound nature of Dharma, for that emptiness vehicle, those who are afraid of the stainless principle will reveal the true nature of Dharma as it is. This is to clarify the non-inverted nature of Dharma through the way of definitive words.
