Disbelief itself is said to be the cause of it. If it were another meaning, it would not be reasonable to have no distinction, like cloth arising from a pot. Therefore, what you have admitted, just because it is not established as other, that which arises from the transformed elements, also does not arise from the transformation of the elements, this view is established. Furthermore, if again, in relation to the transformed elements, the non-differentiated existence of the elements themselves is considered the reason for establishing it as its basis, if this is reasonable in the case of others mutually establishing themselves, then that itself is not established, as in 'Four are not in one,' and so forth. The meaning is this: if because the ten forms of the transformed elements that are admitted are each the nature of the four elements, then at that time, each of them is non-different from it, therefore one itself disappears, and like the four elements, becomes four, then that also does not exist. If it exists, then like the four elements, the eye and so forth, and form and so forth, would also become what is apprehended by the body's senses, therefore it would extend to being beyond the senses themselves, and the apprehension of different senses themselves would not exist, which is difficult to avoid. Therefore, four are not in one. To this, someone thinks that because it extends to the fault as stated above, the transformed elements have not become the nature of the four elements, but if the four elements themselves are the nature of the transformed elements, then there is no fault at all. But this is also not correct, because 'One is also not in four.' The meaning is this: when the four are the nature of one transformed element, then with their nature of being non-different from it, the four themselves disappear, and like the transformed elements, become only one, then one is also not in the four. If one exists in them, then like the transformed elements, it would also extend accordingly to being beyond the senses themselves, and the apprehension of different senses themselves, therefore it would become unable to answer the situation where the apprehension of the body's senses themselves does not exist. Therefore, the four are not one itself.

Yes. Therefore, like this, since the four great elements (earth, water, fire, and wind) and the things transformed from the four great elements do not mutually establish as their own nature, the four great elements and the form transformed from the four great elements do not exist without being separated, and are actually non-existent. How can the form transformed from the four great elements be established by relying on these non-existent things, relying on that cause? In reality, it cannot be established in any way, this is its meaning. Therefore, like this, speaking of the things transformed from the four great elements from the gate of birth, and at the same time refuting the reality of the nature of the four great elements, in order to refute it from the gate of knowledge, it is said "extremely difficult to grasp," etc. Anyone who acknowledges reality by the difference between the four great elements and the things transformed from the four great elements cannot become a name that can be established as "existent," this is its meaning. Among them, for the time being, regarding the things transformed from the four great elements, that is, the form of the nature of the senses, it is not permissible to establish the name of "existent," and the reason is shown, so it is said "extremely difficult to grasp," meaning it is constantly hidden. This shows that the direct perception that does not depend on this does not allow entry, as its nature, as a reason. If someone admits that inference is permissible here, in order to welcome the doubt of his intention, it is said "known from the sign." If it is said that the sign can make one understand the meaning of the sign-possessor, or that this sign can make one understand and comprehend the hidden meaning, therefore it is a sign, and it exists from this, if one thinks like this, then the answer is: that sign is also non-existent. This word "that is non-existent" has already been explained before, and this established doctrine can also be taken and combined. Why? Because the form of the senses is constantly hidden, so one wants to know by tracing back from the result, therefore one acknowledges the consciousness of the senses as a sign. However, that sign does not exist when the senses exist, and when it exists, the senses have no form. Why is this? It is said "because it is born from causes and conditions." As shown in this way, it means the knower of the existence of the senses.
