If it is said that it is meaningless, it is not. For what reason? "Action in emptiness is truly," thus extensively speaking. It is understood thus: If in the ultimate sense, dependent arising has no birth, even so, in the conventional sense, it is not so, because ignorance is conventional, because it obscures suchness. Here, even a non-real thing, whatever appears as real, that ignorance itself is conventional, its birth is considered real. Thus also, whatever things are born from cause and condition, whatever is truly realized, that is what the Teacher calls ignorance, from which the twelve branches arise. It will be explained thus. Therefore, if the order of arising is not contradictory in this way, then the order of cessation is also not contradictory, if one knows that things are empty, because one sees truly, ignorance will not arise, that is the cessation of ignorance, therefore the twelve branches cease. It will be explained thus. Therefore, looking at emptiness, the arising and ceasing of conventional truth are not contradictory. The opponent says that the effort of practicing the stages and paths will lead to the fault of having no fruit, in order to answer this question, the answer shown by "action in emptiness is truly," etc., is indeed the correct reasoning, thus, without the paths of accumulation and joining, action will not be truly known as empty, to this, in the stage of the supreme Dharma, if one knows emptiness without hesitation, then one can immediately see it, the path will not arise, because ignorance ceases, it will cease and not enter, thus it is understood. From that, if there is no that, from action, consciousness etc. arise, that is birth. Not arising is not being born. That is called the remainder. It is thought to be because there is no cause. Therefore, in this way, by showing the order of returning from the law of the twelve branches of dependent arising, the path with fruit is established in the conventional sense. However, if one analyzes in the ultimate sense, then whatever does not exist, if one does not examine that, then the characteristic called delightful, in the conventional sense, is it the nature of the cause or the nature of the fruit? Thus looking at one thing.

If one admits the nature of existence and non-existence by the distinction of examples, since some cannot understand non-existence shown without an example, and there are no examples for this, isn't this just like not showing it? In order to show this meaning by showing very famous examples to the objector, it is said, 'Just as the Bhagavan Tathagata,' etc. Just as it is established that there is no dispute between you and me, the Bhagavan abides in the suchness of all dharmas, realizes and comprehends it as it is, or is associated with obtaining the ultimate samadhi that is the nature of the inseparability of method and wisdom, how can he not abide only in samsara or only in nirvana? Likewise, having gone to and attained the realm of nirvana, that which is called the Tathagata Buddha, by miracles, that is, by the distinction of miraculous powers, takes hold of the beings to be tamed, and then manifests the distinction of forms that are in accordance, that is, arises. That manifestation also manifests again to other manifestations. Among them, that is, among those manifestations, those that the Tathagata actually manifests, in that emptiness devoid of self-nature, a manifestation speaking to a manifestation, what need is there to mention it? To show this, it is said: What need is there for a manifestation to speak to a manifestation? This example shows that there is no self-nature in the ultimate truth, but it is said to show that even if it exists in the conventional truth, it is not contradictory: Is that not both? It means both manifestations. If asked, 'Is it also so in reality?' It is said, 'Whatever it may be,' because the nature that is not worthy of analysis is unanalyzable, that is, it is intended to be conventional truth. Therefore, what is shown is merely understanding, that is, merely illusion. Thus, by the very fact of becoming the nature of cause and effect, through the distinction of relying on examples, it shows one nature that does not exist in the ultimate truth, and the nature that exists in the conventional truth.
