Form is also like that. How can it be realized by that? The so-called form is referred to as the form that has been spoken of. Here, the object of the eye should be understood as the form that has been spoken of. Consciousness is also not other than what is apprehended by the eye consciousness. The word 'born' should be understood here as referring to the present. Here, if consciousness apprehends form, does it apprehend the present form, or the past and future? Among them, for the moment, in the manner that has been spoken of, the present form is not apprehended by the present consciousness, because both are momentary. Since the consciousness that arises and immediately disintegrates does not remain in that for even a moment, how can it be possible for it to apprehend the object? If it is said that it apprehends what is to be produced, that is not so. What is to be produced is the future, and how can it apprehend the form that has not yet arisen? Since the form also arises and immediately disintegrates, and does not remain for even a moment, how does it apprehend? Therefore, in this way, the momentary consciousness does not apprehend the moment of the arising of the form that has been spoken of. Or, if you think like this, because of the momentary nature, it does not apprehend the present form, but if that is the case, how can it not apprehend the past and future? It is said: When the present object itself cannot be apprehended because of its momentary nature, how can consciousness apprehend what is not existent in all ways, what has disintegrated and what has not arisen? Thus, for the moment, apprehension is impossible, so in order to establish that form is non-existent, it is said: When at any time colors and shapes, etc., have no difference, there is no apprehension of those differences, nor is there a single, so-called form. If there is even a little of what is called the source of form, the object of the eye, will it apprehend that? But it is not existent, and why does it not apprehend what is non-existent? How is it that the source of form is non-existent? It is said: Here, colors and shapes, etc., are called the source of form. Are these colors and shapes one, or are they different? For the moment, colors and shapes, etc., have no difference, and if they did, they would not depend on each other.

It also becomes the object of grasping, and these cannot grasp the shape that is different from color. It is not like a vase and cloth, and similarly, it cannot grasp the color that is different from shape. Undoubtedly, any shape will have its color produced, and the way any thing exists is called its shape, so it is impossible for a color to exist independently of shape. Since they are so different, then, color can never exist in shape, therefore, the perception that they are different does not exist. Or you may think: if color and shape are not established as different, so color and shape are not perceived as different, even so, will they be perceived as a unified mixture? Answer: things that are not established separately do not exist in the mixture, how can these be unified? Therefore, it is impossible to perceive them as unified. Other than color and shape, no other form can be identified, because what the opponent says is that form is the nature of color and shape, and these are also not perceived, which has been established. Therefore, because there is no perception, form does not exist. Or, if form does not exist because there is no perception, even so, eye consciousness exists temporarily, because it is not prevented, and if there is no form, it will not arise, therefore, will form also arise? Answer: if eye consciousness exists, form will exist, in order to establish non-existence, it is said: eye consciousness is not in the eye. It is not in the form, nor in the middle. Relying on form and eye. Well done! Completely reverse the examination. Here, the establishment that eye consciousness arises relying on eye and form should be analyzed: does this eye consciousness exist in the eye? Because it is not a colored object, it does not abide in a place, therefore it does not exist in the eye. Just as it does not exist in the eye, it also does not exist in the form, nor can it exist between the eye and the form, because it does not abide in a place. At any time, eye consciousness is not in the eye, nor in the form, nor in the middle, then, in any case, it is non-existent.
