and special objects. Things, by means of actions, birthplaces, races, lineages, clans, ages, appearances, and so on, closely observe objects, and those that exist with distinctions of special, non-special, and intermediate are respectively inferior, equal, and special. Furthermore, external things such as houses, ornaments, bedding, food, and drink, and other necessities, are considered inferior, equal, and special. Moreover, it is reasonable for all of these things to be established as things in their respective objects. It is impossible to obtain the establishment of unborn, single-flavored things as diverse. As mentioned earlier, various actions and so on also exist in the world, but it is unreasonable for various things to exist without their own characteristics. Those who say that things have no self-nature cannot obtain the arising of things from causes, because those who say that things have no self-nature are like rabbit horns. If compounded things and so on become without self-nature, they will not arise from causes like rabbit horns. But these things do arise from causes, therefore it should be said that things have self-nature. Here it is said: If self-nature is established, then dependent arising things will become non-existent and not dependent. On what will self-nature become non-existent? Things, both existent and non-existent, are the same. If, for those who assert that things have no self-nature, they are afraid of the fault of implying the non-existence of inferiority and so on, and therefore concede that the self-nature of things is established, then even if you concede things, things are not merely things. You will not obtain the establishment of the distinctions that you desire to manifest, and you will also obtain the non-existence of all distinctions. How is this done? If the self-nature of things is necessarily established, then it is established by self-nature, and therefore they will not arise in dependence on causes and conditions. It is possible to distinguish existent things as things, but not non-existent things. It is also unreasonable for existent things to arise again in dependence. From this, it will be obtained that all things do not arise in dependence. Dependent arising

If it does not exist, the differences such as inferiority of things will not arise, so it is unreasonable to say that things exist. Here, some say that the self-nature of things is not produced by causes and conditions, because the self-nature exists in the three times, and also for the sake of temporary results, the collection of causes and conditions of things produces the temporary state. In response to this, it is said based on it, what does not depend on? If things exist in the three times with their self-nature, then for things that arise without dependence, self-nature is unreasonable, because the son of a widow should also have self-nature. Therefore, it is not non-dependence, even if it is non-dependence, things have no self-nature. Furthermore, if the self-nature of things is admitted, then the self-nature that is admitted will not disappear, because conditioned phenomena perish in each moment, and seeing that the self-nature of impermanence is also changing, it is considered to be without self-nature because of the self-nature of impermanence. If they have self-nature, they will not become the self-nature of impermanence, and conditioned phenomena will attain non-destruction, because the essence is established, it is with self-nature. For things that are not existent, change is also impossible. Milk remains in the state of milk, but if it becomes yogurt, it cannot become the self-nature of yogurt. Or, a young person remains in the state of youth, but after obtaining the state of old age, it is considered to be different from this. This is also unreasonable, what is there to obtain another state? If this is impossible for milk, because the state of yogurt is contrary to the state of milk, how can it be milk? Milk exists in that state, and if there is no that state, the establishment of milk will not exist. Moreover, the states of milk and yogurt have not become one, so there is no entity of yogurt in milk. If there is no entity, then how can this be said to be the entity of yogurt? Thus, if self-nature is admitted, then things cannot be completely changed, because there is no change.
