Moreover, it does not exist in its own nature. Unconditioned things are merely words, so no detailed analysis should be made. Due to the difference between what arises and what is transformed from arising, the four great elements among these five forms do not abandon each other, but arise by the power of each other. The earth element is formed by relying on the three great elements, and the three great elements are also formed by relying on the earth element. Similarly, the remaining elements should also be applied. Therefore, these exist by depending on each other. If not relying on earth, how can these three elements obtain the nature of relying on earth? Where these three elements do not exist, from where can earth obtain the nature of relying on the three elements? Similarly, the remaining elements should also be applied without their own nature being established. If these were established in their own nature, then by the very fact that they are established in their own nature, they would not be dependent on each other. One might think: before arising, the own nature of what arises is not established, but even so, since it is established by depending on each other, it will become its own nature. But that is not so. Since they do not exist in their own nature before they are born, there is no dependence on them for the time being, so there is no establishment. Since there is no establishment, how can one's own nature arise? Where their own nature is not established, there the nature of earth and so on, like myself and the forest, is not established. Furthermore, since the own nature is not established, one should not say that earth and so on are merely imputed, because they are perceived by the senses of the body. Therefore, these are not non-existent, like the son of a barren woman, merely by being perceived. But if analyzed, since the own nature is not established, there is no establishment of one's own nature. Therefore, one must realize that these elements that truly arise depending on conditions are without own nature, like reflections. By doing so, one will not contradict the worldly, because we accept the arrangement of relying on dependent origination. Nor will it contradict the ultimate truth, because there is no nature of existence.

Because you have not fabricated, manifest clinging will also be reversed. Because it is fully realized that dependent arising is false and of a deceptive nature. If there is no manifest clinging, then liberation from samsara, which has the cause of manifest clinging, will also be easily accomplished. Thus, the great elements appear like images, and because they have no substance, it is easy to realize that the eyes, etc., which arise from them as a cause, are also without self-nature. Furthermore, the nature of the smallest form of all things is called a subtle particle. In the desire realm, as something outside the senses, it has eight substances. These eight substances are: the four great elements, form, smell, taste, and touch. The body sense, which has an inner self-nature, has nine substances. Apart from that, the senses such as the eyes have ten substances. Furthermore, if these subtle particles have sound, they have nine, ten, and eleven substances. Among them, the eight substances of a subtle particle with eight substances, like the fruit of an apple, do not exist independently in their own nature, but exist mixed together like the taste of haritaki and beans, etc. in medicine, and brown sugar and tindili fruit, etc. in drinks. Moreover, the seven substances of a subtle particle, because each one cannot be established without relying on the seven substances, do not exist established in their own nature. If they were established, then each one would lose its dependence on the seven substances, and therefore would be without cause. If there is no cause, then nothing can be established. Because they are observed as existing in dependence on the seven substances, they do not appear in their own nature like land and houses, etc. But they are not completely non-existent either, because each one relies on the seven substances, so the imputed phenomena can be observed. The reasoning of a subtle particle with eight substances should also be applied to subtle particles with nine, ten, and eleven substances. Therefore, like this, the five senses such as the eyes and the five objects such as form are just like images. Also, mind and mental factors

Those that arise in dependence on the eye and so forth, and with forms and so forth as their objects, are also no different from being like reflections. Because they arise from supports and objects that are like reflections. Furthermore, just as the great elements arise in dependence on each other, and therefore do not exist as their own essence, so too, the mental phenomena arise in dependence on each other's power, and therefore do not exist as their own essence, and are no different from being like reflections. Similarly, these characteristics should also be applied to their own characteristics. Therefore, all phenomena are without substance. Whoever clings to phenomena as truly existent is inverted, for substance exists elsewhere, and phenomena are apprehended elsewhere, like perceiving water in a mirage. Whoever acknowledges impermanence and yet believes that substance is real has not understood the nature of substance as it is. By perceiving the inverted as correct, one first deceives oneself, and then others. These are those who cling to the extreme of existence. When they thoroughly establish the nature of things as truly existent, they do so by means of scripture or reasoning. For example, the scripture is this: Therefore, Ananda, wherever something is not, that is empty of that thing, and what remains is what exists. Knowing this is knowing reality as it is. To say this is to realize emptiness without inversion. Similarly, some contemplatives and Brahmins do not accept what is empty, nor do they accept what is empty of. Such an attitude is a wrong grasp of emptiness. Why is that? Because what is empty of is non-existent, what is empty is existent, therefore it is called emptiness. If everything is non-existent, what would be empty of what? It is not reasonable for that itself to be empty. Therefore, it will become a wrong grasp. How then is emptiness rightly grasped? Wherever something is not, that is empty of that thing, and one sees it correctly. What remains is what exists, and one understands it as it is.
