Thus speaking is to realize emptiness exactly as it is. Similarly, permanent entities do not exist; other's autonomy does exist. The ultimate realization of clinging and denigration will be destroyed. It is also said thus. The reasoning for those is that if even the substance itself does not exist, then the characteristics of what is designated do not exist, so designation also comes to exist. If that does not exist, then the results of actions and so forth will also be lost, it is said. To that, if you establish that things exist, then it would be reasonable to say that. But you have not established it; know that it is like speaking cautiously out of fear. The reason for what was said is that the true existence of things is clear, so even for the meaning of the non-existence of things, it is represented as the meaning of things, and thus all actions and results and so forth are reasonably understood. The meaning that contradicts the scriptures has also been briefly stated before. Although that is so, the scriptures cannot establish that the nature of the things that are manifestly desired exists. Merely mentioning existence does not establish true existence, because even for mere designation, it is mentioned that it exists. Also, the Blessed One said to the monks, 'Monks, these five are merely concepts, merely vows, merely conventions, merely terms, namely past time, future time, space, nirvana, and what is called a person.' Thus, having manifestly established them as mere concepts, the Blessed One again said to the monks, 'Monks, if the past form had not arisen, then the noble disciples who have heard would not fail to look at the past form; if it were not so, then because the past form exists, the noble disciples who have heard do not look at the past form. Monks, if the future form will not arise, then the noble disciples who have heard will not fail to rejoice in the future form; if it were not so, then because the future form will arise, the noble disciples who have heard do not rejoice in the future form.' Thus he spoke. Therefore, for what exists by designation, it is also mentioned as existing, and merely mentioning it as existing does not establish the true entity.

cannot be established. Therefore, the very nature of dependent arising is devoid of inherent existence. If it is devoid of inherent existence, then it is not contradictory to dependent arising itself, because conditioned phenomena, which are dependently arisen, are false and deceptive. Here, there is no essence, substance, or entity. Even so, conditioned phenomena exist as artificial natures, empty because of their lack of inherent existence. Therefore, the Blessed One also said: "This continuum of seeing, like an illusion, deceives children, causing harm and pain, but there is no essence in it. Just as by analyzing in various ways, what can be accumulated and consumed is proper attention, therefore one sees that there is no essence. Form is like a mass of bubbles, feeling is like a water bubble, perception is like a mirage, formations are like a banana tree, and consciousness is like an illusion, as said by the Kinsman of the Sun." Thus, by contemplating the aggregates, for oneself and for names, a monk who strives diligently, with mindfulness and individual recollection, makes actions peaceful, attains the state of peace, and goes to Nirvana, which is endowed with supreme bliss. Furthermore, as it says in the sutra: "Son of good family, how does a Bodhisattva become endowed with the wisdom that understands the selflessness of phenomena? Here, the Bodhisattva thoroughly understands the superimposition on phenomena and the defamation of phenomena as they truly are. Therefore, it becomes like this: the so-called phenomena are temporary, completely conceptualized, and the established phenomena do not exist in their own nature, nor does the nature of the letters exist. However, calling these merely names, merely terms, one does not become attached to them. Temporary phenomena are not completely non-existent, because phenomena depend on other conditions, and if they depend on other conditions, then they exist. If they are separated from conditions, then they cease. Thus, the Bodhisattva thoroughly understands all of this as it truly is." Therefore, here, dependently
