It is merely not understanding the Three Jewels and the Truth, etc., which abide on the side of ignorance. What is the pervasive attachment of views? It is said that these three views are called the pervasive attachment of views. For example, the view of the aggregates, the view of holding to extremes, and wrong views. Among them, the view of the aggregates is to perversely impute and cling to the five aggregates of appropriation, namely form, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness, which are devoid of the nature of a person, etc., as having a true nature, and to engage in twenty aspects. For example, viewing form as self, self as possessing form, form as belonging to self, and self as abiding in form. Thus, these are the four aspects of the view of the aggregates, taking the aggregate of form as primary. Similarly, four aspects of the view of the aggregates will arise, taking consciousness as primary. Because it is subject to decay, it is decay, especially meaning decay and deterioration. Roughness is accumulation, that is, existing accumulation, place, collection, body, and near pacification, but here "kāya" refers to accumulation, meaning many and collection. Since it is both decay and collection, it is the aggregate of decay, and the collection with the nature of decay is called the aggregate of decay. In this way, the defiled wisdom that engages in grasping at self and what belongs to self is called the view of the aggregates. Grasping at two extremes is holding to extremes, and grasping is manifest clinging. Such a view of extremes is the view of holding to extremes, that is, with the view of the aggregates, imputing the five aggregates of appropriation as having the nature of self, and grasping them as self, or thinking that self and the world are permanent, or thinking that self and the world are annihilated, or similarly, the defiled wisdom that engages in discriminating between the two extremes of existence and non-existence is the view of holding to extremes. Slandering cause, effect, truth, the Three Jewels, and dependent origination, etc., and the defiled wisdom that exists in a non-existent manner

That which possesses afflictions is called wrong view, and those three kinds of views are referred to as the fetters of views. What are the fetters of clinging? Two kinds of clinging are shown to be the fetters of clinging, namely, clinging to views and clinging to ethics and asceticism. Among them, the view that regards the inferior as superior is clinging. What is inferior? It is all contaminated things, because they are abandoned by the noble ones. Among them, clinging is the act of being attached to the notion that "these are superior" in regard to things that are not so. This is clinging to views. If it is said that because one clings to the notion that all contaminated things are superior, it should be called "clinging to contaminated things," then why is it called "clinging to views"? If it is said that it is not only clinging to views, then here, the word "etc." should be regarded as having been omitted. Clinging to views, etc., is called clinging to views. Regarding what is not a cause as a cause, and regarding what is not a path as a path, is clinging to ethics and asceticism. Here too, the word "etc." should be regarded as having been omitted. Therefore, it is not merely clinging to inferior ethics and asceticism, but clinging to all contaminated things as the very nature of the path of purity, liberation, and definite emergence. These two kinds of clinging are called the fetters of clinging. Doubt is the nature of being fettered by afflicted wisdom that deeply engages in the two aspects of existence and non-existence in relation to the truth and the Three Jewels, etc. That is called the fetter of doubt. Jealousy is being tormented by the virtues of others, that is, if one possesses a certain dharma, wherever and whenever one hears of others possessing collections of virtues such as learning, ethics, generosity, form, etc., and focuses on that, intense inner torment arises in that person. That dharma is said to be jealousy, and that dharma is the fetter of jealousy. Giving of dharma and the nature of being wise, etc.
