When a person's desire ceases, their craving for it also ceases. Craving is desire. When one is free from craving, it cannot be said that they possess any merit simply because they have awareness. For at that time, they do not truly experience anything, because all aggregates of transformation, the nature of cause and effect, will be completely pacified. Therefore, it is unreasonable for a liberated person to have the awareness of liberation. Then, what if at that time, the person no longer has awareness? Even so, is not the existence of non-awareness the same as non-existence? If for a person whose nature is inseparable from awareness, there is no awareness, then what truth is there to be examined in non-awareness? Such reasoning is as unclear as the son of a barren woman. If one thinks that because the one in a state of liberation has the power of awareness, therefore there is a "self," then this is also meaningless. Because, if there is a liberated "self," then the seed of awareness will exist, and samsara will exist. If the "self" can be examined in the state of liberation, then at that time there will be a "self," and there will be the power of awareness based on it. Because its nature is awareness, it is impossible to exist without it, therefore a "power" without a basis is also impossible. Furthermore, it is unreasonable to assume that something that will happen in the future has some kind of difference in ability now. For a liberated person, the activity of awareness occurring naturally is also impossible. Therefore, thoughtful people believe that because there is no substance, there is no "self." If there is no one who is liberated in liberation, then liberation itself will not exist. Therefore, wouldn't this lead to many undesirable consequences such as this samsara not being able to be destroyed? This is not the case. If the activity of awareness and its power both truly exist, then the question arises: is this activity existent or non-existent? When they have no basis and therefore do not exist in any way, if it does not exist, then samsara
