It is also to indicate proximity, therefore it is said to exist. This should be explained: If liberation exists apart from bondage, binding, and method, then nothing arises from it, therefore it cannot be called liberation. Among these, bondage is the truth of origination, because it makes what should be bound lose its autonomy and become bondage. Binding is the truth of suffering, because it is the control of others who experience suffering. The method of reversing it is the truth of the path, because it causes afflictions to cease. Without bondage and what should be bound, the act of bondage is impossible, therefore the very existence of bondage and what should be bound is the cause of its existence. Similarly, without what should be ceased and the one who ceases, cessation will not exist, and from its existence, both what should be ceased and the one who ceases exist. Among these, what should be ceased is all afflictions, and the one who ceases is the path, like a lamp in the darkness. Just as these three truths are inferred from all afflictions and liberation from them as their very existence, liberation, which has the characteristic of the cessation of afflictions, is not like that. Because nothing arises from it. Both bondage and liberation, also because they have not approached becoming the nature of a limb. If this becomes a close union in some place, then at that time it will become the very existence abandoned by the result. But this is not so, therefore it does not have existence itself. If it is thought that liberation is liberation, even so, this is not something other than what has been liberated, if it is not so, it will be unrelated to it, and will do nothing. Therefore, this should not be called liberation, therefore it cannot be called liberation. The act of liberation is that which, by cutting off bondage, is liberated from what should be bound, is the very possession of the act of liberating the true thing, and when it is free from examining whether it is itself or other, if it has not become something else, then liberation is something that has become something else, this should not be existence itself. Therefore, afflictions and birth no longer arise, it is said to have been done.
