I am immutable. Because without it, there is no action of producing results, so it should not be said that subtle particles exist as entities. Here it is said, if subtle particles do not exist, then the yogis will not observe them. This is also observed by the yogis with divine vision. Therefore, subtle particles are permanent. It should be said: That which has no beginning, that which has no middle, that which has no end, the invisible, who can see it? Because there are no parts, subtle particles do not have front, middle, and back parts. Therefore, it is invisible. Invisible means not obvious, not graspable, and not visible. Because there are none of these, it is invisible. That which is not visible, no one can see, this is not what yogis can observe. Therefore, subtle particles are not permanent. Those who think that they see in a way that is not reasonable to see, and those who think that seeing vaguely is no different from seeing truly, those who certainly show approaching error and turn the world upside down, if their words are taken as a measure, then the existence of subtle particles is unreasonable. Here it is said that subtle particles are permanent because they arise from coarse things and approach the nature of seeds. If they do not exist, then coarse things will arise without cause. For example, in the first kalpa, coarse things arise again, and at the time of destruction, all substances with limbs dissolve, leaving only subtle particles, then coarse things cannot exist. Also, if at that time, subtle particles also disappear like coarse things, then coarse things will arise without cause. Therefore, the cause of limb substances, subtle particles are the only ones that exist, and now they are also permanent, because they exist and do not have a cause. This is also unreasonable. Because the result destroys the cause. Therefore, the cause is not permanent. If subtle particles become themselves, then

Just as sprouts grow from grains, they are destroyed by substances with parts, such as two or more atoms. Therefore, since they do not coexist with the fruit, atoms, like seeds, become impermanent. If one thinks that the cause of this impermanence is not the destruction of the cause by the fruit, but rather that the cause does not abandon its own nature and produces the fruit as something different, then, since the fruit is different from the realm of the cause, like different species, the atoms of separate realms will not become the substance of the cause. This is merely to show it by means of another disguise. Or, where there is a cause, there is no fruit. It is said. When the cause itself is impossible, what is the need to examine the permanence of atoms? Therefore, permanent atoms do not exist. Moreover, atoms are not permanent, because objects with obstruction are not permanent. This is because it is impossible for atoms to be penetrated by other atoms with their entire self, so atoms themselves are obstructive, and like obstructive vases, etc., they cannot be permanent. Therefore, the permanence of atoms does not exist. Because permanence does not exist, the Buddhas never speak of the permanence of atoms. Those who see things as they are must ascertain things as they exist. Since the atoms of the eight substances are impermanent, their existence exists, and it can be examined, because it is examined by relying on the eight substances, like a vase. So, what are the eight substances of atoms? They cannot be called atoms one by one, because they are not atoms individually. Therefore, just as in the view of the Vaisheshikas, for the Sugatas, there are no atoms of substance. Therefore, the Tathagatas never teach the permanence of atoms, because they themselves have not seen it that way.

Those who, employing reasoning, refute the existence of the ultimate particles of the eight substances, and realize that consciousness is merely nominal, those who are temporarily skilled in worldly matters and worldly principles, when refuting, can refute the two harms of the world and doctrine, but those cannot refute the existence of ultimate particles, and also cannot establish that the existence of consciousness like ultimate particles contradicts reason. In this way, because its arising, abiding, and ceasing, etc., do not exist sequentially or simultaneously, it is not allowed. For those who are separated from arising, etc., existence itself is unreasonable. Therefore, for worldly things, do not add the discriminating observation seen from beyond the world, and it should be admitted as it exists in the world. Just as consciousness is a worldly phenomenon, so are ultimate particles, so this cannot be used to employ reasoning to refute ultimate particles, because its reasoning is harmed by the harms of the world and doctrine. Thus, those who speak of ultimate particles are refuted, and there are also some in their own sect who do not understand unconditioned phenomena as mere names, and who understand Nirvana as truly existent and permanent. Some think that the Buddhas do not declare ultimate particles to be permanent, which is indeed true. But whatever is declared to be permanent is certainly permanent and existent. As the Blessed One said: 'Monks, the unborn, unoriginated, and unconditioned, that exists.' It is also said: 'Unconditioned phenomena are permanent.' Therefore, Nirvana is permanent, and the permanent that should be attained by the Truth of the Path, and for the afflictions and the two kinds of birth that will arise, like a dam blocking water, there is something that becomes a permanent obstacle. If that is not permanent, then at that time the afflictions and birth have no meaning of obstructing arising, so those will arise. But that is not the case either. Therefore, the so-called Nirvana, that permanent thing, exists. If that does not exist, then after the Truth of Suffering and the Truth of Origin, it would not be possible to proclaim the Truth of Cessation as the third noble truth.
