Therefore, birth will not occur either. Just as from a long time, entering in a way that cause and effect are transmitted one after another, for the continuation of the seed that does not possess the first, the end is seen when burned by fire. Similarly, from beginningless time, with a cause that is transmitted one after another, for the birth of the seed of consciousness that does not possess the first, without the completeness of the cause, there will be no arising either. Actions that are related to afflictions are able to project a complete birth, and those afflictions are also burned by the fire of wisdom, approaching non-existence of entity, therefore, because there is no companion, actions are not able to project birth. In this way, the continuous cycle of birth will be eliminated. Like a candle and roasted sesame seeds, and a sky-goer and a tree. Just as when the conditions for a candle exist, it will continue, and when they do not exist, it will not continue; just as roasted sesame seeds will not cause sprouts to grow; a sky-goer is accomplished by means of a rope, and by that cause is able to walk in the sky, and when that rope is taken away by others, because there is no cause, he will fall to the ground; just as when the root of a tree is pulled out, because there is no cause, it will not grow again, similarly, because there is no attachment to the entity of cause, afflictions such as desire will not arise. The entering of Bodhisattvas is also not due to the control of afflictions, but due to the power of aspiration. Therefore, merely seeing that the existence of sentient beings does not possess the nature of entity, one is able to strive for the benefit of sentient beings, and without any attachment to sentient beings, the supreme difficult practice of a Bodhisattva is extremely rare, as the teacher Buddhapālita said: 'Although you see beings as empty, yet you wish to remove the suffering of beings, the afflictions you have endured for so long, that is truly extremely rare!' In the Sutra Requested by the Noble Ānanda, it is also said: 'Here there is no sentient being or life, yet the Victorious One still causes sentient beings to mature, although there are no sentient beings, he still performs beneficial deeds, this is your great difficult practice.'

Thus and so forth were spoken by the Bhagavan. Similarly, in the "Three Hundred Prajñāpāramitā Sutra," it says: "All sentient beings, gathered as sentient beings, whether born from eggs, born from wombs, born from moisture and heat, or born from transformation, whether with form or without form, whether with consciousness or without consciousness, or neither with nor without consciousness, all that are designated as the realm of sentient beings, I shall lead them all into the realm of nirvāṇa without remainder." Thus, even if all sentient beings who have not attained nirvāṇa are led to nirvāṇa, no sentient being actually enters nirvāṇa. This is for the sake of proclaiming this. The noble "Garland of Jewels" also says: Just as water, trees, and branches, Are all cut down and destroyed, Just as nothing arises, So too is the person with aggregates, Like the destruction of the aggregates. Thus, truly knowing, Neither self nor no-self exists, The views of self and no-self, Therefore, the Great Hero well prevents. Such and such have all been spoken. Seeing all beings as without inherent existence, how does this transform? Thus, the following eight chapters will explain. The "Four Hundred Verses" by the teacher Āryadeva, called "Engaging Disciples," is the commentary on the eighth chapter. Hereafter, the remaining teachers, in order to cleanse the minds of disciples with the waves of the ocean of dust-like afflictions, and to transform them into vessels for the nectar of reality, so that they may realize the reality of all things as they are, therefore, they intend to begin by determining reality. Therefore, it is explained that conditioned phenomena, having arising and ceasing, are said to be without essence. All arise for the sake of the fruit, therefore there is no inherent nature. Existing for the sake of the fruit, it is not inherent in the world. In the world, these aggregates are for the sake of the fruit, and not as real objects, therefore, names are established. The four elements and what is transformed from the four elements, mind and mind

The arising of earth, and names, bases, characteristics, etc., even for conditioned phenomena, single words do not arise, therefore, various aggregates arise. That aggregate also exists as cause and effect with each other, therefore, if something exists, something will arise, and if something does not exist, something will not arise, that is its cause, and the other is the effect, there is no other than that, because those three do not arise, if it exists, it exists, therefore the arising of earth needs the fruit. Thus, all conditioned phenomena arise for the sake of the fruit as they are, therefore it is not permanent. The sound of permanence is synonymous with nature, truth, essence, thing, and substance, because there are none of those, therefore conditioned phenomena are without nature, untrue, without essence, not things, not substances, of a deceptive nature, and delude the world of children, thus it is measured. As the Blessed One said: Subhuti, the eye is not self and not belonging to self, not permanent, not stable, not lasting, not of a changing nature, therefore it is emptiness. Likewise, it is not permanently abiding, because it is not perishable, therefore the eye is empty of the eye. And so on. Therefore, the teacher said that whatever belongs to conditioned phenomena is false and deceptive. This is also determined to be in accordance with the reasoning that will be explained, therefore it is said. How is it a real thing except for the Sage? The Tathagata does not exist. The body, speech, and mind that do not need to be learned are in accordance with the Sage, therefore it is the Sage, that is, the Buddha, the Blessed One. He proclaimed impermanence and emptiness, therefore, having truly realized the nature of all phenomena, he is called the Tathagata, and not another, because he did not realize the meaning of the reality that exists as it is by proclaiming the reality without inversion. As it is said: Past, future, and present, all phenomena are thus. Because he sees it as it is, therefore he is called the Tathagata. And, Subhuti, the Tathagata, the Tathagata
