This is how it is done. Here it is said: Even old age shows affection for these beings, but even so, excessive attachment to sons becomes the cause of the father's suffering. It should be said: Just as a father loves his son, the son does not treat the father that way. Sons do not love their fathers as they do, and fathers do not love their sons as they do, because sons know that they were raised after experiencing hundreds of hardships, so their perception of things becomes dull, and because their craving for sons is too strong, they abandon their fathers immediately as if they had never seen them before, and act as they please. Because of this, just as the world falls into lower realms such as sons because of craving, it is impossible for sons and others to climb above their fathers because of craving, therefore, craving is like driving actions, and the mindstream led by attachment flows downwards like water, in order to illustrate this, the world goes downwards. Therefore, it is also difficult to obtain the heavens. It is difficult for the world controlled by craving to obtain the cause of going upwards, so, for the time being, it is difficult to obtain even the heavens, let alone liberation? Therefore, respect and love for the guru should be emphasized. For those who do evil to their fathers, such as sons, one should be saddened by their falling into evil destinies, but not for those who have passed away. It's like sandalwood being wasted, and the sound of a bell. Just as a merchant takes a small amount of sandalwood from the place of origin, and loses as much as he takes out, and eventually loses everything, the sound of the bell will gradually disappear, similarly, by destroying the Dharma with bad behavior such as wasting actions, it will become difficult to obtain even the heavens, let alone liberation? Furthermore, for those who are troubled by sorrow, one should temporarily transcend and think about this question: Is your attachment to the disobedient son, or to the obedient son? For those who are disobedient, no one will say that he is lovely. When someone is disobedient, he is no longer lovely, therefore, it is impossible to say that one is attached to the disobedient. If
