That which is not differentiated by many differences, that is it. Because thoughts like "That is me" delude the mind, one becomes even more attached to the idea that it is one, therefore people are uncertain of the moment and not suited to act clearly. Therefore, in the world, it is difficult to find the understanding of one's own nature. If one understands one's own nature, one will not engage in sinful actions because of the lack of inverted causes. This world mostly indulges in sinful actions, so those who understand themselves are rare in the world. Therefore, the wise should always strive to examine their own nature separately with respectful religious faith. It is like searching for clothes that have fallen into a river, and like the swift movement of a celestial being. Just as some unwise people search in the same place for a long time after clothes have fallen into a river, those who do not understand themselves still regard themselves as children even when they are old. Also, for example, the swift movement of a celestial being, whether it is a god who walks on the earth or in the sky, cannot be overtaken by anyone. Similarly, there is no time shorter than the moment of destruction of life. Here it is said, although life is momentary, even so, because it is continuous, it is long, therefore it is reasonable to be attached to it. It should be said, you like to live, but you do not like to grow old. Alas, your behavior is like that of ordinary people who are similar to you, but you regard yourself as a saint. This is because you like to live long without decay, but this is impossible if you are not long-lived. You do not like old age with wrinkles, white hair, and stooping. Therefore, alas, this wrong behavior of yours, even if it is not a saint, only children like you will worship you as a saint, not others. Therefore, do not be attached to eternity because you hate aging, just as an old man entering a garden is laughed at by young people. Some old men enter a garden, and the young people laugh and say, "Old man, you look ugly!" But they also want to live long.

Yes. Therefore, their behavior, like that of ignorant people, turns into that of saints. Therefore, in this way, because one knows one's own suffering, when others die, one should feel compassion for other beings who are also of this nature. Although no one wants to grow old and die, even so, one should say to those who think that old age and death occurring to their sons becomes a cause for sorrow, but not when it occurs to themselves: You grieve for your own death, why do you grieve for your sons and others? One who is a speaker who should be reproached, how can one not be blamed? Death is the nature of death, and since one has become the nature of death, because one has not done what should be done, one should only grieve for oneself, and should not grieve for one's sons and others. If one has transcended the Lord of Death, then it is understandable to feel heartache when the Lord of Death descends upon others. However, how can those who should be reproached for the same fault and who speak these words to others not be blamed? Indeed, if you disregard the fact that you yourself should grieve and instead say that only your sons and others should be grieved for, then for what reason would you not be blamed by the noble ones? Therefore, one must also ascertain that the Lord of Death has descended upon others.

What has not been done is not unreasonable. Your sorrow is inappropriate, because when some sentient beings come from the other world to this world without being invited, and become sons themselves, it is also not unreasonable to act arrogantly like that, and to want to go to the other world, and to leave without having a share allocated. There is nothing unreasonable in coming without being invited and going without being asked. It is not appropriate to grieve over reasonable behavior, just like a woman who comes suddenly. A woman suddenly came and volunteered to be the wife of someone living in a garden, and it was not known where she came from. Later, she went back as she had come, and people grieved for her because of that. Others asked, "Do you know where she came from?" The answer was, "I don't know." They asked, "Since you don't know where she came from, her departure is the same, why grieve for her?" Similarly, foolish people grieve over the death of a son, not knowing where he came from or where he is going. Or rather, it is not that he left without being asked, because he did not leave any written words, but shared his portion with friends and relatives, while you, because of your ignorance, know nothing of the various thoughts of your son. Therefore, because you do not understand the manner of his departure as he showed it, you should grieve for your own ignorance, not for your son. Then, how did he share his portion with his friends? It is explained: the joy of this life will be revealed by old age. That is because the connection from one moment to the next is completely changed, and when old age comes, like a long-term foreign guest, one realizes that one will eventually pass away. Therefore, one should completely abandon sorrow and strive to be free from ignorance, just like setting out with the burden of an only son. A certain only son was preparing to set out for the burden of his son, and his father followed him and began to wail. Similarly, the world strives to give birth to sons, but when they meet the fruit of their birth, they feel sorrow.
