Now it is easy to kill. Because sentient beings born from sin, going to hell is worse than killing. If someone cannot distinguish them one by one like that, then the arising and ceasing of consciousness and so on should be dispelled. For example: Whoever knows the abode of consciousness and so on in the right way, if he exists, afflictions will not remain in wisdom. Consciousness depends on many causes, because it itself is arising, it is accumulated; because it is accumulated, it has abiding, arising, and ceasing. This is because it is skilled in grasping the characteristics of each moment, and because it does not abide, there is no abode for it. If there is no abode, it is impossible for the cause of abiding to arise, because like the unaccumulated, it is far from abiding. If it is far from abiding and arising, where is impermanence? Therefore, by nature, all three do not exist. Even if the three are impossible, consciousness has no self-nature. As the verse says: Consciousness is like an illusion, spoken by the friend of the sun. Because such a verse appears. That which has no self-nature, because it is far from self-nature, is emptiness like a magical person, and the three realms that are thus conceived are also empty. Therefore, like that, distinguishing the nature of the consciousness, the abode and so on, entering the nature of illusion and image, for those who have wisdom beyond the world, seeing it upside down, the afflictions arising from it, desire and so on, will surely cease. In that case, this meditation is good. In that case, a Bhikshu yogi who is diligent in meditation, all afflictions will never remain. Therefore, like that, the fire of affliction is extinguished, and with a pure heart, accomplish the benefit of sentient beings, and guide others to take that path as well. Just like taking out the poison of a mouse and the root of a poisonous tree. Whoever knows the treatment of mouse poison can destroy or dispel it, similarly, whoever knows the cause of the arising, ceasing, and abiding of faults can destroy afflictions.

Just as a poisonous tree, once its roots are pulled out, will not grow again, similarly, if the roots of the cycle of existence, such as the arising of the poisonous tree, are pulled out, one will not enter into it again. Here it is said: The arising and abiding that depend on the mind, When the causes and conditions are in harmony, And the knowable also becomes an object of reality, That destroys the darkness of ignorance. This concludes the explanation of the sixth chapter of the Four Hundred Verses on the Yogic Practices of a Bodhisattva by the teacher Aryadeva, which is called "Showing the Means of Abandoning Afflictions," having explained the means of abandoning afflictions. Now, in order to generate revulsion by revealing the faults of cyclic existence, it is desired to explain the means of abandoning actions, therefore it is said: This ocean of suffering has no end, In any way, it is not present, Child, you are drowning here, Why do you not feel fear? Because it is reproached in all ten directions, this great ocean of suffering, from beginningless time, arises from the ignorance of existence, as well as pride and attachment, filled with the manifestations of the thirty-six objects of attachment, stirred by the water monsters of the sixty-two views, many whirlpools of birth and death, the torrents of blood, tears, and milk swell, the waves of aging, sickness, and death surge, filled with sorrow, lamentation, suffering, displeasure, and turbulent fish, turtles, mermaids, makaras, and countless crocodiles, this turbid water that harms desire has no end, so why do you not feel fear, drowning in this bottomless great ocean of suffering? Even drowning in a sea where the other shore is visible and there are no demons to devour, where the depths can be found, causes incomparable fear to those who long to lose their lives and suffer, what need is there to mention ordinary people, since this ocean of cyclic existence has no other shore or depths, and has no comfort whatsoever? Therefore, whoever is not afraid of this and is not harmed is an object for whom revulsion should be generated for this behavior, indeed, a childish person. Like Rohita's

English

It is so. Just as the sage named Rohita's horse, who possessed five superknowledges, thought, 'I shall go to the end of the world.' With the magical power of his footsteps, when he placed his foot on the summit of Mount Sumeru, he died before reaching the end of the world, was born among the gods, and came to the presence of the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One said to him, 'Rohita's horse, I shall show you the world, the origin of the world, the cessation of the world, and the path to the cessation of the world in this fathom-long body of yours.' Thus, by teaching the four noble truths, the four noble truths were seen. Here it is said: The water of blood and tears is vast, the waves of old age and death churn with power, in the bottomless ocean of suffering, how can one not be afraid of drowning? Here it is said: Those who are deluded by the pride of youth and so on do not fear samsara. It should be said: Youth has passed behind, and then appears in front again, but in this world, it appears like a race. Here, youth, which is fond of the world, has passed behind, and then later appears in front, and after appearing in front, it passes behind again, cut off by death, so it appears in front again. Therefore, although this world claims to abide by the lord of the world, nevertheless, since the stages of youth and so on are seen as impermanent, youth, old age, and death appear like a race. Racing is racing, with agility and speed, 'I am present, I am manifest,' thus racing each other, like those who walk on the road. Thus, youth and so on should be thoroughly examined as impermanent, and one should not be proud of one's youth. Like birth and death, like the shadow oppressed by a wheel. Just as the birth and death of beings completely change, appearing in front and then passing behind, and also like the potter's wheel.
