It is not necessarily bound to happen. Therefore, unpleasant words from inferior people seem like insignificant extras. Because inferior people desire actions that are not in accordance with the Dharma and always commit sins, especially enjoying seeing others suffer, hearing unpleasant words from these people is not necessarily bound to happen, because everything they do is meaningless. If they are satisfied with just giving some unpleasant words, isn't it better to obtain something even more unpleasant than killing and binding? Therefore, why harbor anger in a situation where one can be completely happy? It's like the Venerable Gangpo and the tip of a poisonous arrow. For example, when the Venerable Gangpo wanted to subdue the people living in the remote region of Klung Sho Na, the Blessed One said, 'Those people are untamed and very fierce, and you will suffer there.' After he said this, the Venerable Gangpo said to the Blessed One, 'If they insult me, I will think, 'Oh, these people are not hitting me, that's great.' Even if they take my life, I will think, 'Oh, these people are freeing me from this decaying body, it's really beneficial to me.' After he made this request, the Blessed One allowed him. Also, like at the root of a poisonous arrow-like herb, if someone suddenly feels afflicted and is saddened by it, another person will say, 'If you have not lost your life from contact with the deadly poison, do not be sad. Because there is no one living here who is not going to die, you are truly blessed, shouldn't you be happy?' Similarly, if someone only hears insults from inferior people, they should be happy, not sad, because it is just a small way to get rid of difficulties. Here it is said: Inferior people do not do what should not be done, nor do they say what should not be said. Therefore, compared to inferior people, these unpleasant words are like insignificant extras. Here it is said: There is no fault in punishing those who insult the faultless. It should be said: If harming others does not benefit oneself in any way,

For anger has no merit, respect is merely infatuation. If another becomes angry, and by the power of anger harms him, if this were to generate some merit for oneself, then it would be appropriate to harm others. Because harming others does not generate any merit for oneself. Therefore, whoever respects such meritless anger is merely infatuated with it, just like examining a weapon. For example, if someone examines whether a weapon is sharp or not, and in doing so harms his own body, then examining the weapon in that way only brings harm and sin to that person, and no merit whatsoever. Similarly, if I am harmed by others with harsh words or beatings, and then harm or incite others to harm them, I gain no merit for myself other than sin. Whoever respects that is merely indulging in infatuation. Here it is said: Harming others may bring great merit to oneself, but even so, one born into a noble family cannot harm others. Here it is said: Which wise person would tolerate the meaningless scolding of others? It should be said: If through patience one can effortlessly obtain great merit, then who is as foolish as one who obstructs another from scolding them? Patience is taught as Dharma. If one possesses patience, without the effort of seeking objects to give, merely by enduring the harsh words of others, without giving anger or other emotions any opportunity, and without harming others, one will obtain great merit. Then who is more foolish than one who obstructs the cause of Dharma, the one who scolds? Therefore, whoever endures the scolding of others is wise, and great Dharma belongs to them. It is like killing one's own family. Some noble women desire the death of their husbands, and when only a little breath remains, they torment themselves with suffering and eventually die.

Thinking, "I should kill this person," he strived to accumulate sin, and as a result, he killed his husband, and that's what he did. Similarly, some foolishly, through speech, effortlessly do not want great merit, but strive and rely on the unbearable cause of great meaninglessness. Here it is said: Because of the power of patience, patience is said to be the supreme of Dharma. Therefore, engaging in Dharma will not be an obstacle to Dharma. From this, it is also known that anger should be abandoned, because it harms others. Like this: Anger, in particular, does not arise in those who are powerful. Therefore, why should you respect anger that destroys the weak? Even if anger is generally aimed at objects that are not agreeable, even so, it cannot harm those who are powerful, so it is only special in those who are harsh in speech. Therefore, in order to avoid harming the former, a dignified person should abandon it as if it were not supreme. Therefore, knowing this, one should not respect anger that destroys the weak in any way, just like being brave towards women. Some kings, wanting to conquer the territory of others, summoned their own armies and went forth to conquer the territory of others. There he said, "What will each of you do?" Some of them said, "Lord, we will do it in such a way that no one will be able to come out of or enter that city." Others said, "We will go between the trenches." Still others said, "We will climb the walls." One of them said, "I will do whatever pleases the Lord greatly and protect myself." The king also said with great respect, "When these people completely suppress that king, I will beat that king severely with rough whips, just like the women of the harem." Hearing these words, the king thought, "This afflicted fellow is one who destroys the weak." Then he turned away from that soldier and was particularly...
