Just like that, young people are naturally inclined to crave desires, but due to ignorance, they do not see the true nature of the body. Because of its impurity, they adorn it with fragrant flowers, scents, ornaments, and so on, always generating attachment. By preventing this attachment, they think of themselves and others as pure. Even if flowers and the like are mixed together, it is impossible to deeply infuse an excellent fragrance into it, like treating garlic. This is like tasting something after smearing it with cat fat, or being happy upon seeing a golden nose. Just as when food or people's sake is given after being smeared with cat fat, they think it is oily and rich. Also, just as someone who has lost their nose makes a golden prosthetic nose and feels joy upon seeing it, children also adorn themselves with flowers and scents, thereby generating attachment. Here it is said: The body, like a wound, the fragrance that has become a wound thread, and garlands, clothes, etc., ignorant people are always attached to these. Here it is said: The cause of attachment is flowers, scents, and so on. If these did not exist, then they would not cause people to become attached to desires. It should be explained that: Where detachment from desire arises, that place should not be called pure. Certainly, the thing that is the cause of attachment does not exist anywhere. The so-called object that is pure in nature does not exist at all. For those whose eyesight has not yet deteriorated, when they see a body that appears ugly due to the flow of impure substances, they will become detached from desire. Therefore, because it is the cause of detachment from desire, the statement that the body itself is pure, like the collection that has been spoken of, is unreasonable. Flowers and scents, etc., should also certainly not be the cause of attachment, because detachment from desire may also exist in them. In this way, those who have attained detachment from desire in desires will also become detached from these things. Furthermore, anything that necessarily becomes the cause of attachment, the thing called pure, does not exist at all in nature. In this way, flowers and scents, etc., are considered pure, but when widely used, they also change.
