These two cannot exist simultaneously in one thing, because destruction and production are contradictory to each other. You do not want doubt and certainty to exist in one mind, or the state of death and birth to occur simultaneously. It is impossible for a seed and a sprout to exist in one moment, because that would lead to the fault of having no cause. In the world, seeds such as rice, sesame, barley, and wheat are not collected. As it is said: In order to produce fruit, the world collects seeds and so on through hundreds and thousands of ways. Therefore, this extremely inferior doctrine of no cause should be abandoned far away. Similarly, the Blessed One said in other sutras, monks, these five are merely nominal designations, merely conventional terms, namely, past time, future time, space, nirvana, and the individual. Therefore, the Blessed One said that all things, past and future, etc., internal and external, are merely worldly conventions. Similarly, the Blessed One said in another sutra: Form is like a mass of foam, feeling is like a bubble on water, perception is like a mirage, formations are like a plantain tree, and consciousness is like an illusion. This was declared by the Kinsman of the Sun (Buddha). Therefore, understanding that all phenomena are like illusions, the diligent monk, whether day or night, with mindfulness and awareness, will pacify all formations and realize the peaceful state. Thus it is said. Similarly, in the Noble King of Samadhi Sutra, it says: Just as many bubbles are carried away by the water, and a person sees them, but if one examines them, one does not see their essence. Know that all phenomena are like that. Just as when a great rain falls, water bubbles arise separately, and after arising, they immediately disintegrate, and the water bubbles no longer exist. Know that all phenomena are like that. Just as in the midday sun of summer, a practitioner, suffering from thirst, sees a mirage as a mass of water. Know that all phenomena are like that.

Do. Just as there is no water in a mirage, yet foolish beings desire to drink from it, the false water cannot be drunk. Know that all dharmas are also like this. Just as when someone fells a moist tree trunk seeking its heartwood, but finds no heartwood either inside or out. Know that all dharmas are also like this. Magicians conjure up various forms, such as horses, elephants, and chariots, but in reality, there is nothing there. Know that all dharmas are also like this. Thus it is said. Therefore, for those who assert that things have a true nature, if the inverted views of permanence, pleasure, purity, and self are transformed into the views of impermanence, suffering, impurity, and non-self, then it becomes inverted. This is not what is desired. Therefore, those who promise that things exist and temporarily slander happiness should be questioned: What is suffering? If the answer is: It is what causes harm. Then, what does not cause harm is considered happiness, and so on, these statements are unreasonable because they contradict their own promises. If it is said that this is what the Blessed One said in order to accommodate the understanding of children, then this teacher also said the same. If that is the case, then why would anyone utter these words of dissatisfaction with the teacher Aryadeva? This will not dispel the view that the teacher has not truly understood the sutras of direct and indirect meaning. Therefore, due to the obscuration of ignorance of childish beings, which impairs the eye of wisdom, the wise ones who are skilled in the methods of the Great Compassionate Blessed One Buddha, in order to counteract the four inverted views of permanence, pleasure, purity, and self, have proclaimed the views of impermanence, suffering, impurity, and non-self as a method of liberation from the ocean of samsara. From the "Four Hundred Verses on the Yogic Practice of a Bodhisattva" by the venerable teacher Aryadeva, the explanation of the method of abandoning the inverted view of happiness, the end of the second chapter.

Association. Now, let's talk about the method of abandoning inverted purity. Here it says: Even if all conditioned things are of the nature of suffering, even so, because of the pleasure of enjoying desirable objects, one should associate with objects. It should be said: Even if the time is very long, there is no end to the objects. Like a quack doctor, your body will produce futile labor. For any sentient being who craves the pleasure of enjoying objects, who enjoys objects in his youth, accumulates wealth in the middle, and finally believes in the Dharma, it should be said to such a person: If the objects become a small amount, then in youth one can exhaust these and obtain happiness, even if one is close for a long time, one cannot accomplish complete severance. If there is no complete severance, then the labor of those who want to achieve the ultimate goal by merely enjoying these is like a quack doctor who does not understand the characteristics of the disease, so he has no ability to treat the disease, and the treatment of the body, because the effort does not reach the ultimate goal, will become fruitless, just like becoming a fruit of only hard work. Like a monkey in a leopard skin. Just like a monkey in a leopard skin, it is always the cause of disgust among monkeys, and there is no fixed time and distinction for things that should be disgusted, for those who are close to enjoying the objects, thinking that they can be satisfied only by these, there is no end. Here it says: Moisture cannot be dried by moisture, heat cannot be eliminated by heat, similarly, closeness to desire cannot abandon the hope for desire. Here it says: Just as water cannot quench thirst, one who is satisfied with desire will not crave desire. It should be said: For some who are close, just as the craving for land cannot be reversed, for those who are close, the hope for desire will also increase in the same way. Just like being close to the act of eating soil, it will only increase the craving for soil.
