Cloth and white are not one, nor are they two, because they have not obtained the characteristics of both. Therefore, white is not white itself, nor is it non-white. Cloth is not cloth itself, nor is it non-cloth. Therefore, why is white, which has not obtained both characteristics, called white and not black? Because that white is called white and not black, therefore white itself exists. Why is cloth, which has not obtained both characteristics, called cloth and not a vase? Because that cloth is called cloth itself and not a vase, therefore cloth is also cloth itself. Thus, since white itself and cloth itself have been established, undoubtedly, they must become one or the other. If they are one, then the order of merely negating one should be stated again. If it is the other, it is also the way of negating the other. Similarly, for all things, the way of negation should also be stated in detail, thus it is explained. Here it is said: If the nature of things does not exist because it has not been established in that way, then with what reason are those opponents pleased, thinking that things exist? There is no reason for this, however, just as if one mistakenly observes a continuum, it will become saying that there is permanence. Similarly, if one mistakenly observes an aggregate, it will become saying that there is a thing. Just as the flame of a lamp destroys each moment, and the causal relationship between the previous and subsequent moments exists without interruption, if there is an aggregate of causes and conditions, a continuum of existence will arise. Similarly, for all conditioned phenomena that perish immediately after arising, as long as there is an aggregate of causes and conditions of such a nature, there will be a continuum of existence, and the causal relationship will exist without interruption, arising without beginning. Therefore, just as the nature of that continuum exists, for the non-Buddhist hermits who are not certain and unconfused, but rather determine things in a reversed way, because they remember their previous abodes, and here the momentary destruction is not obvious, so for the continuum that passes from one skandha to another, it is certain that

Whether it is what is seen or myself or others, it arises as if thinking that things are permanent, similarly, it arises depending on this and that collection, and changes from arising, and mind and mental events, and having the nature of characteristics and qualities, etc., and its close object, grass and ashes and material, etc. are collections, houses, etc., and qualities such as form and smell are collections, vases, etc., and collections of things, I and space, etc. exist. Apart from the collection, phenomena whose characteristics are not established arise, and change from arising, and mind and mental events. Vases, etc., are similar to images and echoes, etc., and from this and that, each and every one takes the inverted view of the world as a measure, and in order to guide the world, they take or rely on it, and merely establish it as the nature of self and generality. Those are also only collections that arise at birth, and only collections that cease at the time of cessation. Therefore, because the collection is not known as it is, and because of wrong views, opponents, etc., each thinks that it is completely established by its own nature, and only grasps things that are inverted and without reason. If things do not exist in that way, therefore our view of things is inverted, and you do not admit things, and if it becomes a view of non-existence, that is also extremely unreasonable, because what is seen and unseen are contradictory. It should be said that I am not saying that things do not exist, because I am talking about dependent origination. Are you a speaker of things? It is not so, because I am speaking of dependent origination itself. What kind of person are you? I am a speaker of dependent origination. Again, what is the meaning of dependent origination? It is the meaning of no self-nature. It is the meaning of no self-nature arising. The meaning of the fruit of the nature similar to illusion and mirage and image and Gandharva city and incarnation and dream and the meaning of emptiness and selflessness. As it is said: Whatever arises in dependence, that is not independent. All these are without independence, therefore
